Arun Rai (born 1963) is an Indian-born American scientist. Arun Rai is a permanent Regent's Professor at the Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University and holds the Howard S. Starks Distinguished Chair at the Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University.
Arun Rai earned his integrated master's degree in science and technology from BITS Pilani in 1985, MBA from Clarion University of Pennsylvania in 1987, and PhD in Management Information Systems from Kent State University in 1990. He served as an assistant and later as an associate professor at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale from 1990 until 1997 before moving to Georgia State University in 1997.
In recognition of his significant global contributions to scientific research in the field of Information Systems, Rai was recognized as the Fellow of the Association of Information Systems (FAIS) in 2010. [1]
Rai was awarded the Information Systems Society (ISS) Distinguished Fellow in 2014. [2]
Arun Rai was the recipient of the prestigious LEO award (awarded in 2019 in Munich), which is named for the world's first business application of computing (The Lyons Electronic Office), and recognizes truly outstanding individuals in the field of Information Systems. [3] [4]
He served as an Editor-in-Chief of Management Information Systems Quarterly (MISQ) for five years between 2016 and 2020. [5] [6] He has previously served as Senior Editor for Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, and Journal of Strategic Information Systems and as Associate Editor for several journals (e.g., Journal of Management Information Systems, Management Science, Decision Sciences, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly and Journal of the Association for Information Systems).
Andrew B. Whinston is an American economist and computer scientist. He serves as the Hugh Roy Cullen Centennial Chair in Business Administration. He also works as a Professor of Information Systems, Computer Science and Economics, and Director of the Center for Research in Electronic Commerce (CREC) in the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin.
The Association for Information Systems (AIS) is an international, not-for-profit, professional association for scholars of information systems that was established in 1994. The association publishes journals, organizes conferences, and provides a forum for information systems professors and managers. It has members in more than 100 countries.
Management Information Systems Quarterly, referred to as MIS Quarterly, is an online-only quarterly peer-reviewed academic journal that covers research in management information systems and information technology. It was established in 1977 and is considered a major periodical in the information systems industry. An official journal of the Association for Information Systems, it is published by the Management Information Systems Research Center at the University of Minnesota. The current editor-in-chief is Andrew Burton-Jones, University of Queensland.
The journal of Management Information Systems(JMIS) is a top-tier peer-reviewed academic journal that publishes impactful research articles making a significant novel contributions in the areas of information systems and information technology. Established in 1984, the current editor-in-chief of JMIS is Vladimir Zwass. JMIS is published by Taylor & Francis in print and online.
Wynne W. Chin is C. T. Bauer Professor of Decision and information Sciences at the University of Houston. Wynne is the second most cited researcher in his college and in the top ten in his university. He received his Ph.D. In Computers and Information System and an MBA from the University of Michigan, an MS in chemical and biomedical engineering from Northwestern University, and an AB in biophysics with a minor in philosophy from UC Berkeley. Before joining the University of Houston faculty in 1997, Wynne taught at the University of Calgary and Wayne State University. In addition, he holds visiting status at the School of Information Systems, Technology and Management at The Australian School of Business, UNSW.
Varun Grover is an American Information systems researcher, who is the George & Boyce Billingsley Endowed Chair and distinguished professor at the Walton School of Business, University of Arkansas. From 2002-17, he was the William S. Lee Distinguished Professor of Information Systems at Clemson University, where he taught doctoral seminars on methods and information systems. He is consistently in the top 3 IS researchers in the world. He has an h-index of 100, among the top 5 in his field Grover has around 52,000 citations in Google Scholar and over 13,900 citations in Web of Science.
Ping Zhang is an American scholar in information systems and human–computer interaction. She is notable for her work on establishing the human–computer interaction community inside the information systems field, bridging various camps of human–computer interaction research and exploring intellectual characteristics of the information field. She co-authored with Dov Te’eni and Jane Carey the first HCI textbook for non-computer science students.
Ephraim R. McLean is an American organizational theorist, and Regents' Professor (Emeritus) of Information Systems and holder of the G.E. Smith (GRA) Eminent Scholars' Chair at the J. Mack Robinson College of Business. Known as one of the founders of the MIS discipline in the 1960s, his work with William H. DeLone on the information systems success model is world-renowned.
Vijay Kumar Vaishnavi is a noted researcher and scholar in the computer information systems field with contributions mainly in the areas of design science, software engineering, and data structures & algorithms, authoring over 150 publications including seven books in these and related areas, and co-owning a patent. He is currently Professor Emeritus at the Department of Computer Information Systems, Georgia State University. He is Senior Editor Emeritus of MIS Quarterly and is on the editorial boards of a number of other major journals. His research has been funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) as well as by the industry.

He was the Founding President of the Association for Information Systems, co-founder of the International Conference on Information Systems, and the founder of the America's Conference on Information Systems. He has an h-index of 77 when including all of the fields in which he has published, according to Google Scholar.
Ann Majchrzak is an American academic. She is a Professor of Digital Innovation in the Department of Data Sciences and Operations within the USC Marshall School of Business. Majchrzak holds the USC Associates Chair in Business Administration.
Yolande E. Chan is a Jamaican-Canadian information systems professor. Chan joined the Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University as Dean and James McGill Professor in August 2021. Her research focuses on innovation, knowledge strategy, digital strategy, and business-IT alignment. Chan has long been a champion for women and under-represented groups in academia. In her role as Dean of the Desautels Faculty of Management, she has made equity, diversity and inclusion a major strategic priority.
