The Asagba of Asaba is the traditional leader of Asaba, Delta State in the South-south of Nigeria. The office of the ruler of is an official post recognized by Governor of Delta State and the Federal Government of Nigeria. [1] [2]

The Asagba is the representative of the people of Asaba to the state and federal levels of government. The current Asagba is Joseph Chike Edozien. [3]

Culture and practices

During official meetings with cabinets or guests, The Asagba of Asaba enters the palace arena and all guests stands. He is always beautifully costumed and also accompanied by his wife attired in the traditional white cloth of the western Igbo. [4] [note 1]

Joseph Chike Edozien, CFR, JP was a Nigerian traditional ruler who is the Asagba of Asaba or King of Asaba, Delta State.

The Anioma people are a predominantly Igboid speaking ethnolingustic group located in present day Delta State, Nigeria. As Anioma is also an acronym derived from the regions that make up the Western Igbo area: Aniocha (A), Ndokwa (N), Ika (I) and Oshimili (O), the coinage was made by the founding father of the Anioma state movement, Chief Dennis Osadebay in 1951 and has since remained the preferred indigenous name by which the people collectively refer to themselves. The Anioma people encompass and are native to communities which span the 9 northern Local Government Areas of Delta State. Politically, the Anioma occupy the Delta North Senatorial District, where they are the majority.

Awka'Awka South Local Government Area (LGA) is made up of nine towns, namely, Amawbia, Awka, Ezinato, Isiagu, Mbaukwu, Nibo, Nise, Okpuno and Umuawulu. There are three major streets that span this area, which are the Zik Avenue, Works Road and Arthur Eze Avenue. In the past, the people of Awka South LGA were well known for blacksmithing. Today they are respected among the Igbo people of Nigeria for their technical and business skills.

Igbuzo is an Igbo community in Delta State, Nigeria, founded c. 1450. The community is in Oshimili North. It has an estimated population of 566,310 people in 2009. The people speak the Enuani dialect of the Igbo language. The name of the community is more commonly and officially known and written as Ibusa. The movements forming the process of Ibusa can be linked to the first and second waves of the movement of Igbo migrants into the West Bank of the Niger River. The first adventure was led by Edini from Nshi (Nri) and the second of the two waves of migrations was led by Umejei from Isu resulting in the formation of Igbuzo.
