Asghar Khan Achakzai (born 4 February 1977) is a Pakistani politician who had been a member of the Provincial Assembly of Balochistan from August 2018 to August 2023.

Personal life

Achakzai was born on 4 February 1977 in Chaman located in Killa Abdullah District of Balochistan, Pakistan. As of 2018, his residence was located in Murda Karez neighborhood of Chaman. [1]

Political career

Achakzai was president of Balochistan wing of Awami National Party from 2014 to 2018. He was elected as a member of Provincial Assembly of Balochistan from the constituency PB-23 (Killa Abdullah-III) on 25 July 2018. [1] [2]

On 20 October 2018, he was made member of a committee which is tasked to discuss the matters related to Saindak Copper Gold Project with federal government so that Balochistan's share of revenue generated from that project can be granted to the province exchequer according to the provisions of 18th Amendment to the Constitution of Pakistan. [3]

Nawab Ayaz Khan Jogezai ; born 28 January 1959) is a Pakistani politician from Northern Balochistan and is serving as the Pashtun Nawab. He became Nawab after the death of Nawab Taimoor Shah Khan Jogezai. While he was still alive, Nawab Taimoor Shah Khan Jogezai nominated Nawab Mohammad Ayaz Khan Jogezai as the next Nawab. He survived an assassination attempt at Killa Saifullah in 1988 but was seriously injured. On the request of the Chairman of Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, he joined the party. He was elected as a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan for NA-200 (Zhob-cum-Killa Saifullah in 1993 till 1996. He also remained a member of the Senate of Pakistan from 2003 to 2009. He contested for PB-3 constituency in the 2013 Balochistan provincial election and was successful. He was appointed Provincial Minister of Balochistan for Public Health and Engineering Department in 2013 and remained in office till 2018.
