Asha Mwilu is a Kenyan journalist and a documentary filmmaker. [1] She is a Chevening Scholar from the University for the Creative Arts, Farnham. [2] In 2016, she was crowned the overall winner of the CNN Multichoice African Journalist of the year Awards, and also won the News Impact category of the Continent's most prestigious. [3] [4]

Life

Mwilu was born in June 7, 1988 in Kenya. She studied Broadcast Journalism at the United States International University and holds a Masters of Art in Documentary Practices (Distinction) from the University for the Creative Arts. [5] [6]

She began her media career in June 2010 as the Head of News with One FM Kenya and then move to Kenya Television Network (KTN) between December 2011 to June 2015, [7] and in August 2015, she joined KTN News as a Documentary Filmmaker and Independent Journalist and in April 2018, she joined Citizen TV as a Special Projects Editor. Mwenda Njoka is a Kenyan investigative journalist and winner of CNN Journalist of the Year Award. He was one of the seventeen finalists of the 2004 CNN African Journalist of the Year Competition Launched under Sunday Nation/Daily Nation of Kenya in 2004. He is also winner of Kalasha Film & TV Award for his work on the documentary on the late JM Kariuki, a populist Kenyan legislator assassinated under mysterious circumstances in 1975. Njoka is also the founder of non-profit media development organization; Africa Centre for Investigative Journalism (ACIJ). Currently working with Royal Media Services and is behind the Citizen TV Sunday Live news program "Who Owns Kenya". Dorcas Wangira is a Kenyan journalist and reporter. With a report on the harm caused by female genital mutilation and the hope offered by five tech-savvy teenage girls, she won the 2019 International Centre for Journalists (IFCJ) Michael Eliott Award for Excellence in African Storytelling. Out of 218 applicants, her report titled The App and The Cut which was aired on KTN News in June 2018 was selected as the winning report.

Teresa Ndanga is a Malawian investigative journalist. Teresa is the first female chairperson of the Media Institute of Southern Africa MISA Malawi Chapter, and the recipient of the 2010 CNN/Multichoice Health and Medical reporting award. In 2012, she received the MISA Malawi Investigative Journalist award electronic media while in 2013, she received the Overall Journalist of the Year award for the same award. In 2015, she was listed among the top 10 women to watch in media by Media Institute of Southern Africa.
