Ashfield Arena

Ashfield Arena is a sporting ground located in Ashfield, a northeastern suburb of Perth, Western Australia. It is the home ground of Football West State League Division One side Ashfield Sports Club.

It became the home ground of the Perth Glory FC women's team from the 2014 season onwards. [1] [2] Similarly, the Perth Glory Youth team have played their home games there for the National Premier Leagues WA and the National Youth League (Australia) competitions since the 2015–16 National Youth League season. [3] [4] In 2016 Ashfield Reserve was named as the preferred site for the State Football Centre.

Ashfield Reserve, the current home of All Flags State League side Ashfield Sports Club, was considered the most suitable option. Twigger[ who? ] said:[ citation needed ]

Football West will work closely with local, State and Commonwealth governments, as well as other stakeholders, to ensure the best possible outcome for the sport and the Ashfield Reserve precinct

Football West Chief Executive Officer James Curtis said the facility would serve football's needs as well as contributing greatly to the local community and the city's growing eastern corridor, saying further: [5]

The location is easily accessible, given its proximity to the Perth Stadium, Perth CBD, Tonkin and Roe Highways, the Perth Airport and the adjacent Ashfield Train Station

The National Premier Leagues Western Australia is a regional Australian semi-professional soccer league comprising teams from Western Australia. Perth Glory Under-23s is the youth system of Perth Glory Football Club based in Perth, Western Australia, Australia. The academy teams play in the Y-League and National Premier Leagues.

Percy Doyle Reserve is a sporting facility in Duncraig, Western Australia currently used for association football. The ground is used by Sorrento FC in the National Premier Leagues Western Australia, and it has previously been used by Perth Glory Women in the W-League and Perth Glory FC Youth in the National Youth League. The stadium is surrounded by a series of football pitches used by various teams competing in Football West competitions.

The 2015–16 Perth Glory FC W-League season was the club's eighth participation in the W-League, since the league's formation in 2008. The team finished eighth, though they were only two wins from competing in the finals series.

The National Premier Leagues WA Women, also known as the NPL WA Women, is a soccer competition in Western Australia. The competition is conducted by Football West, the organising body in Western Australia. The league is a subdivision of the second tier National Premier Leagues Women's structure, which sits below the national A-League Women, it is the highest tier of local women's competition in Western Australia. The league was founded in 2020 in Western Australia, several years behind equivalent leagues in other states.
