Ashutosh Pattnaik (born on 18 October 1987) is an Indian filmmaker, director, and lyricist. [1]
Ashutosh was born to Baijayantimala Mohanty and Prafulla Kumar Pattnaik in an Odia family from Puri, Odisha. He went to Biswambhar Bidyapitha, Puri and subsequently attended Intermediate Science at HDV Science College, Panaspada.[ citation needed ] Then he completed BCA in NICE under Sambalpur University and animation diploma at Pentasoft, Bhubaneswar. He is a student of cinematography at Biju Pattnaik Film and TV Institute, Cuttack, Odisha.[ citation needed ]
He directed a short film, A Race for Resistance, on water scarcity.[ citation needed ] Then he directed the documentary Independence based on people reviews and Khusi.[ clarification needed ][ citation needed ]
He directed a short ad film, The Butterfly, in Odia language, about girl child discrimination issue. It was awarded 3rd Prize at the Kallola Film Festival [2] organised by Aaina organization with Unicef. [3]
He set up the music production company Pattnaik Bros. He started his first professional work as a lyricist and producer on the album Eka Eka Jibanare in Odia language. [4]
His other notable works in 2016 were Think for a second, Sambalpuri Weavers- knitted with hopes and dreams about the struggle of the Sambalpuri Weavers, Upahar by BPFTIO (Biju Pattnaik Film & Television Institute of Odisha), The Sixth Element, and Chapter-4.
He directed a short movie, Tara Can, which won 1st prize in the 5 minute category of We Care Film Fest, 2017. [5]

Odia is an Indo-Aryan classical language spoken in the Indian state of Odisha. It is the official language in Odisha, where native speakers make up 82% of the population, and it is also spoken in parts of West Bengal, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Odia is one of the many official languages of India; it is the official language of Odisha and the second official language of Jharkhand.
The Odia (ଓଡ଼ିଆ), formerly spelled Oriya, are an Indo-Aryan ethnic group native to the Indian state of Odisha who speak the Odia language. They constitute a majority in the eastern coastal state, with significant minority populations existing in the neighboring states of Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and West Bengal.

Prashanta Nanda is an Indian director, actor and politician from the state of Odisha. He is currently a Member of Parliament at Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament, for Odisha. He had worked predominantly in Odia film industry but also worked in Bengali film industry and Hindi film industry extensively. He was also a former minister in Odisha state.
The first ever Sambalpuri movie released was Bhukha. It was released in the year 1989 and was directed by Sabyasachi Mohapatra. It was also the first film from Odisha to get an International Jury Award at the Gijon International Film Festival. The second film in Sambalpuri language is Ulugulan (Revolution), which was released in 2008, directed by Mahmood Hussain and produced by Purnabasi Sahu. Its story is set in the first half of the 18th century and depicts the tyrannical rule of the Nagpur rulers.
Nila Madhab Panda is an Indian film producer and director. Panda has directed and produced over 70 films, documentaries, and shorts based on social issues, such as climate change, child labor, education, water issues, sanitation and other developmental issues in India. Many of his films are based on his own experiences. He has won several awards and received critical acclaim for his films which have been described as "entertaining yet socially relevant."
Dr. Haldhar Nag is a Sambalpuri poet and writer from Bargarh, Odisha, India. Popularly known as "Lok Kabi Ratna". He was awarded Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award of India by Government of India in 2016.
Sabyasachi Mohapatra is an Indian film director, writer, and producer in Odia cinema. He owns a production house named Mohapatra Movie Magic.
"Rangabati" is perhaps the most popular recorded song in Sambalpuri Odia. Krishna Patel, a 2023 Padma Shri awardee, is the female singer while the male singer Jitendra Haripal is a 2017 Padma Shri awardee. The song was first recorded for All India Radio in the mid-1970s. A record company from the then Calcutta, Indian Record Manufacturing Company Ltd (INRECO), re-recorded the song in 1976. The disc release was delayed due to a dispute and finally released in 1978–79. The Sambalpuri song was written by Mitrabhanu Gauntia, composed by Prabhudatta Pradhan and sung by Jitendra Haripal and Krishna Patel. In the 1970s and 1980s, the song gained popularity for being commonly played in marriage processions and Murti immersion. The song gained official recognition when it was played in the tableau of Odisha as part of the Republic Day celebrations at New Delhi in 2007. The lead singer Jitendra Haripal was also felicitated by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik later that year. It was also notably used in the celebration of victory during an international cricket match in Barabati Stadium, Cuttack. "Rangabati" was recreated in many other languages of India and has been recreated in Telugu for a movie.
Prafulla Kar was an Odia musician, singer, lyricist, writer and columnist. He was also famous for his Odissi Music recital. He received Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award by the Government of India in 2015 for his contribution in the field of arts.
Bibhuti Pattnaik is an Odia novelist and columnist. Entered as a college lecturer in the Dept.of Odia Language and literature in the year 1970 and retired as a Reader, in the year 1995.
Biswanath Rath is an Indian film director, screenwriter, editor and producer. His films have received a total of 503 recognition/awards in various International Film Festivals across the globe. He is the first Odia filmmaker to achieve the milestone of winning 500 film festival accolades which includes 118 awards. He is the founder of production company BnR Films LLP.
Chini is a 2016 Indian Odia and Sambalpuri language drama film directed by Pradeep Bhol and produced by Bhabani Majhi & Snehalata Parida. The film is made under the banner of Navajiban Films. It stars Amlan Das and Patrali in lead roles while Mahasweta Ray and Mihir Das play supporting roles. Well known playback singer Asha Bhosle sang a Sambalpuri number in the upcoming Odia film "Chini" with a western Odisha flavour. Asha has sung "Uanshar andhare nai dishe sina, haji nai jai jan", in Odia language "uaansha ratire dise nahin sina haji jae nahin jaha", penned by Durga Madhab Panda and singer Tapu Mishra for the film. This film won the state film award for best film in 2016.
Odisha Bigyan Academy is a non-profit organisation in the Indian state of Odisha. It was established by professors and academics in science and technology to popularize scientific ideas and technological innovations among students and general public along with encouraging scientific research activities in the State under one umbrella. It encourages students to pursue science as a career and academics to excel in the field of science and engineering research.
Atal Bihari Panda was an Indian actor, playwright and lyricist, known for his works in Sambalpuri odia Cinema. He was the recipient of numerous awards, including two back-to-back Odisha State Film Awards for best actor. His debut in films came at an age of 83 years. Before his debut as an actor in films, he had already written 60 plays. He also wrote lyrics in many Sambalpuri songs.
Satyabrata Tripathy is an Indian actor, radio personality, VJ and television presenter, who mostly works on Odia language films and television shows. He is appointed as the chairman of Odisha Film Development Corporation by the Government of Odisha in 2018. In his career, he has worked is Script, Lyrics, Dialogue & Direction. He has also scripted and directed many Docu-Dramas, and telefilms.
Pathani Pattnaik was an Indian writer of Odia language. He won the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2010 for his autobiography Jibanara Chalapathe.
Shyamamani Devi is a Odissi classical music vocalist composer. A disciple of Gurus Singhari Shyamsundar Kar and Balakrushna Dash, she is known for her popular renditions of classical Odissi music, such as Odissi, Chhanda, Champu, etc. authored by medieval Odia musician-poets such as Upendra Bhanja, Kabisurjya Baladeba Ratha, Banamali Dasa, Gopalakrusna and others. She is also known for her renditions of light music such as traditional Odia folk music ,Odia film music and adhunika songs. In 2022, she was awarded the Padma Shri for he contributions to Odissi music.
