Assassin (group)

Assassin is a French hardcore rap group formed in the 18th municipal district ( arrondissement municipal ) of Paris. The group was formed in 1985 by Rockin' Squat and Solo. [1] Later, Doctor L joined them, as well as DJ Clyde. [1] The group had a significant presence on the French underground music scene in the 1980s and 1990s, with lyrics referencing social inequalities and denouncing commercialism. [1]

Rockin' Squat is Mathias Crochon, Jean-Pierre Cassel's son and brother of Vincent Cassel. He has tried for more than 15 years to elevate the mind of the ghetto, similar to KRS-One, Immortal Technique, and Chuck D in the US. The group undertook national tours in France in the 1990s. [1]

He has collaborated in music with artists like KRS-One, Seu Jorge, Tony Allen, Supernatural, Olodum, Ol Dirty Bastard, Cheick Tidiane Seck, El-P, RZA, Agallah, R.A. the Rugged Man, Immortal Technique, Oxmo Puccino, Mr. Catra or Wise Intelligent. He also collaborated with directors like Jean-François Richet, Olivier Megaton, Mathieu Kassovitz, and Jan Kounen, among others.

Rocca is a French-Colombian rapper and producer born on 27 April 1975 in Paris. Rocca was known as one of the best lyricists in French Rap. He gained recognition as a rapper during the 1990s as a part of the influential rap group, La Cliqua. He also was a member of Tres Coronas. He is a cousin of well known Juan Pablo, Gabriela, Camila, and Juanita Rocca.

"Shake the Hand of a Fool" is a song by written by American singer-songwriter Margie Singleton and recorded by R&B singer Titus Turner, released as a non-album promotional single on Jamie Records in 1961. Though Turner's original English-language recording failed to chart, the song would become a hit in France and French Belgium through a French-language adaption by Jil & Jan titled "Serre la main d'un fou" a year later by French musician Johnny Hallyday, released as a single by Philips Records that May. Hallyday also covered the original English version as the opening track on his first foreign-language and English-language studio album "Sings America's Rockin' Hits" earlier in 1962 but was not released as a single nor charted. Hallyday's version also re-entered the French charts in 2000 and peaked at Number 45.
