Ateneo Social Science Research Center at Jesuit Ateneo de Naga University in the Philippines has since 1970 undertaken research projects in the interest of integral human development. It is one of ten members of the Philippine Social Science Council. [1]

The Ateneo de Naga University (AdNU) is a private research university run by the Society of Jesus in Naga City, Camarines Sur, Philippines. It was established in 1940, the fourth school named Ateneo opened in the Philippines by the Jesuits. Typical of universities in the Philippines, AdNU has primary and secondary levels, which are all coeducational.

The Philippines, officially the Republic of the Philippines, is an archipelagic country in Southeast Asia. Situated in the western Pacific Ocean, it consists of about 7,641 islands that are categorized broadly under three main geographical divisions from north to south: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The capital city of the Philippines is Manila and the most populous city is Quezon City, both part of Metro Manila. History

ASSRC research is covered in the national media [2] and it contributes studies of international import. [3] A member of the Center is one of two representatives of the Philippines on an international committee to secure the safety of the seas.

After 1981 RSC helped create what became the Center for Community Development (CCD) within the university, which involved students in community development activities – assisting tribal groups, farmers, workers, the youth, and the poor in Naga City. [4] After the creation of CCD, RSC's efforts became heavily focused on social science research. The name Ateneo Social Science Research Center was adopted in 1998.

In 2000 ASSRC assumed the task of training undergraduate students in research. [5] [6]

University of Santo Tomas private pontifical university in Manila

The Pontifical and Royal University of Santo Tomas, The Catholic University of the Philippines, or simply the University of Santo Tomas (UST), is a private, Roman Catholic research university in Manila, Philippines. Founded on April 28, 1611 by Miguel de Benavides, Archbishop of Manila, it has the oldest extant university charter in the Philippines and in Asia, and is one of the world's largest Catholic universities in terms of enrollment found on one campus. The university is run by the Order of Preachers. UST is the only university to have been visited by three popes four times: once by Pope Paul VI on November 28, 1970, twice by Pope John Paul II on February 18 1981 and January 13, 1995, and once by Pope Francis on January 18, 2015. The patron of the university is St. Thomas Aquinas, while St. Catherine of Alexandria is the patroness.

Ateneo de Davao University university

Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) is a private teaching university run by the Society of Jesus in Davao City in the Philippines. It was established in 1948, and is the seventh Ateneo opened by the Jesuits in the Philippines. The university has five undergraduate schools, namely the School of Arts and Sciences, School of Business and Governance, School of Engineering and Architecture, School of Education and the School of Nursing. The graduate programs are under these units as well. The College of Law is a separate unit within the university. The university also runs a grade school and high school.

Church of the Gesù (Philippines) Church in Loyola Heights, Quezon City

The Church of the Gesù is the Roman Catholic church of the Ateneo de Manila University campus in Quezon City in the Philippines. The landmark was designed by Jose Pedro Recio and Carmelo Casas. The edifice’s massive triangular structure symbolizes the Holy Trinity, as well as the three-fold mission and vision of the school. Its shape and design are also meant to suggest the outstretched arms of the Sacred Heart, and the traditional Filipino bahay kubo. The site has a total area of 10,200 square metres (110,000 sq ft) and seating capacity for 1,000 persons. The church is situated on Sacred Heart Hill, a small hill overlooking Bellarmine Field, believed to be the highest point in Loyola Heights. In its immediate vicinity are the dormitories and the John Pollock Renewal Center. The peak cross and carillon of the church can be seen from Katipunan Avenue, which borders the campus to the west.

Xavier School (XS), is located at 64 Xavier Street, Greenhills, San Juan, Metro Manila, Philippines. The Ateneo de Manila University School of Law is the law school of the Ateneo de Manila University, a private Jesuit university in the Philippines. It was founded in 1936, in the Padre Faura St., Ermita, Manila campus of the Ateneo, where it remained even after the college, graduate school, and basic education units moved to Loyola Heights, Quezon City in the 1950s. The Ateneo de Zamboanga University is a Catholic and Jesuit university in Western Mindanao. AdZU began in 1912 as Escuela Catolica, a parochial school run by Spanish Jesuits. It is the second oldest Jesuit school in the Philippines and the second Jesuit school to be named Ateneo. It initially offered primary and secondary education for boys. It became a college in 1952 and a university in August 2001. It operates on two campuses, La Purisima Street with the tertiary and senior high school divisions and Barangay Tumaga, outside Zamboanga City proper, with the junior high school and grade school divisions.

The Ateneo de Manila University is a private research university in Quezon City, Philippines. Founded in 1859 by the Society of Jesus, the Ateneo is the third-oldest university in the Philippines.

The Ateneo de Tuguegarao was a Catholic college in Tuguegarao, Cagayan, Philippines run by the Society of Jesus. It was established in 1945 when the Jesuits took over the administration of the diocesan secondary school, Cagayan Valley Atheneum. The Jesuits renamed the school Ateneo de Tuguegarao after taking control. Ateneo de Tuguegarao had a high school and college departments. It was the fifth Ateneo that the Jesuits established in the Philippines. In 1962, the school was closed when the Jesuits left Tuguegarao.

Bienvenido F. Nebres is a Filipino scientist, mathematician, and Jesuit who was the longest-serving university president of the Ateneo de Manila University. He succeeded Joaquin G. Bernas in 1993, and served as University President until 1 June 2011. He currently sits as a member of the board of trustees of Georgetown University, Regis University, the Asian Institute of Management, and other colleges and universities in the Philippines. He is also a member of the board of directors of Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company, and is currently chairman of the Synergeia Foundation. He was also Provincial Superior of the Society of Jesus in the Philippines.

Ateneo de Iloilo

The Ateneo de Iloilo – Santa Maria Catholic School (AdI–SMCS),, is a private, Jesuit, Catholic, Chinese-Filipino Basic Education school run by the Philippine Province of the Society of Jesus in Iloilo City, Philippines. Ateneo de Iloilo began in 1958 as a parochial school named Santa Maria Catholic School. In 2004, the school was officially recognized as a Jesuit school separate from the Santa Maria Parish and was renamed Ateneo de Iloilo - Santa Maria Catholic School. Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC), originally known as Sacred Heart School for Boys, is a private, Catholic, Chinese-Filipino college-preparatory, K-12 school run by the Philippine Province of the Society of Jesus. It was established in 1955. Its curriculum includes a Chinese language program.

The GUIDON is the official student newspaper of the Ateneo de Manila University. It is a part of the Ateneo's Confederation of Publications (COP), including Heights and Matanglawin. The GUIDON is published monthly from June to March.

The Rizal Library is the main university library of the Ateneo de Manila University. It mainly serves and supports the teaching and research in the Loyola Schools. It is named after Ateneo de Manila alumnus José Rizal, the national hero of the Philippines.

The Loyola Schools are the higher education unit of the Ateneo de Manila University, that offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in the arts and sciences and operates under the Vice President of the university.
