Athina Linou ( 1951) is a Greek doctor and professor of epidemiology and doctor at the University of Athens. [1] She was elected to the Hellenic parliament in June 2023 as a member of the Syriza party. [2] [3]
New Democracy is a liberal-conservative political party in Greece. In contemporary Greek politics, New Democracy has been the main centre-right to right-wing political party and one of the two major parties along with its historic rival, the Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK). New Democracy and PASOK were created in the wake of the toppling of the military junta in 1974, ruling Greece in succession for the next four decades. Following the electoral decline of PASOK, New Democracy remained one of the two major parties in Greece, the other being the Coalition of the Radical Left (SYRIZA). The party was founded in 1974 by Konstantinos Karamanlis and in the same year it formed the first cabinet of the Third Hellenic Republic. New Democracy is a member of the European People's Party, the largest European political party since 1999, the Centrist Democrat International, and the International Democracy Union.
Theodora "Dora" Bakoyanni is a Greek politician. From 2006 to 2009 she was Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, the highest position ever to have been held by a woman in the Cabinet of Greece at the time; she was also Chairperson-in-Office of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe in 2009. Previously she was the Mayor of Athens from 2003 to 2006, the first female mayor in the city's history, and the first woman to serve as mayor of a city hosting the Olympic Games. She also served as Minister for Culture of Greece from 1992 to 1993.
Antonis Samaras is a Greek politician who served as 14th Prime Minister of Greece from 2012 to 2015. A member of the New Democracy party, he was its president from 2009 until 2015. Samaras started his national political career as Minister of Finance in 1989; he served as Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1989 to 1992 and Minister of Culture in 2009.
Diamanto Manolakou is a Greek politician. She was elected as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the Communist Party of Greece in the 2004 European elections, an office she held until 5 June 2008, when she resigned in favor of Costas Droutsas. She sat with the European United Left–Nordic Green Left. She resigned in order to take a seat in the Hellenic Parliament, one previously held by Elpida Pantelaki. She was re-elected to the Hellenic Parliament in 2009, May and June 2012, January and September 2015, 2019, May 2023 and June 2023.
Kyriakos Iosif Velopoulos is a Greek politician. He is a member of the Hellenic Parliament and has been president of the Greek Solution political party since its foundation in 2016. Velopoulos is a former parliamentarian for the Popular Orthodox Rally (LAOS) and former member of New Democracy. He is also a journalist, author and television personality.
Spyridon-Adonis Georgiadis, commonly known as Adonis Georgiadis, is a Greek politician, author, publisher and former telemarketer. Often described as being on the far right of the political spectrum, he currently serves as Vice President of New Democracy and Minister for Health in the Second Cabinet of Kyriakos Mitsotakis. He previously served in the same cabinet as Minister for Labour and Social Security (2023–2024), Minister for Development and Investment in the First Cabinet of Kyriakos Mitsotakis (2019–2023), Minister for Health in the Cabinet of Antonis Samaras (2013–2014) and Deputy Minister for Development, Competitiveness and Shipping in the Cabinet of Lucas Papademos (2011–2012).
The Hellenic Police is the national police service and one of the three security forces of Greece. It is a large agency with responsibilities ranging from road traffic control to counter-terrorism. Police Lieutenant General Dimitrios Mallios is Chief of the Hellenic Police. He replaced Lazaros Mavropoulos. The Hellenic Police force was established in 1984 under Law 1481/1-10-1984 as the result of the fusion of the Gendarmerie and the Cities Police forces.
The University of the Aegean(UA) (Greek: Πανεπιστήμιο Αιγαίου) is a public, multi-campus university located in Lesvos, Chios, Samos, Rhodes, Syros and Lemnos, Greece. It was founded on March 20, 1984, by the Presidential Act 83/1984 and its administrative headquarters are located in the town of Mytilene, on the island of Lesvos.
Georgios Kaminis is a Greek American politician and professor of constitutional law. He was the Greek Ombudsman from April 2003 until September 2010 and Mayor of Athens from 2011 until 2019.
In September 2014, it was announced by the International Organization for Migration that a ship sank off the Malta coast on September 11, 2014, killing around 500 migrants. There were eleven survivors. The ship left Damietta, Egypt, on September 6 and sank five days later on September 11. Two Palestinian survivors of the wreck accuse the traffickers of intentionally sinking the vessel after the refugees would not agree to transfer to a different ship.
Stavros Theodorakis is a Greek journalist and politician, who founded and led the social liberal party To Potami. In the January 2015 election he was elected to the Hellenic parliament, with his party receiving 6.1%, the fourth most votes, and gaining 17 seats. In the September 2015 election the party won only 11 seats with 4.09%. After the party's underwhelming performance in the 2019 European Parliament Elections, Theodorakis stepped down as President of the party.

Pavlos Polakis is a Greek politician and physician. He currently serves in the Hellenic Parliament as an independent MP for Chania, affiliated with the SYRIZA party. He commenced his political career at the local government level, serving as Mayor of Sfakia from 2011 to 2015. He joined the central political arena as a member of parliament for the prefecture of Chania in 2015. He served as Deputy Minister of the Interior and Administrative Reconstruction. in the First Cabinet of Alexis Tsipras and Alternate Minister of Health in the Second Cabinet. He has been an elected MP for Chania with SYRIZA since 2015.
Snap parliamentary elections were held in Greece on 21 May 2023. All 300 seats in the Hellenic Parliament were contested. They were the first elections since 1990 not to be held under a bonus seats system, due to amendments to the electoral law made in 2016. Instead, a purely proportional system was used.

Agios Nilos is the name of an area of Mount Athos that belongs to the Monastery of Great Lavra. It is located on the southeastern side of Mount Athos. It is named after Saint Nilos the Myrrh-streamer, who was a hermit in the cell of the Virgin Mary that now bears his name. Today the monks at Agios Nilos are engaged in hagiography and handicrafts.

The president of the parliamentary group is Alexis Haritsis. The New Left officially became a party on 3 March 2024 after its founding conference.
