Atlanta Datagraphic was an amateur U.S. soccer club sponsored by the Datagraphic firm of Atlanta, Georgia. It won the 1979 National Amateur Cup.

History

In 1979, George D. Baker, president of Datagraphic, a printing firm located in Atlanta, Georgia, founded a men’s amateur soccer team. [1] The team rapidly proved itself as one nation’s top amateur clubs as it took the 1979 National Amateur Cup. [2] Over the years, the club expanded to include youth, women’s and over-30 teams. By the mid-1980s, the club had over thirty teams. In 1986, the senior team was coached by David Chadwick. [3] In 1992, it fielded a semi-professional club, the Atlanta Datagraphic Magic in the USISL. [4] Datagraphic played in the Atlanta District Amateur Soccer League during the 1980s.

The Peachtree Road Race is an American 10-kilometer run held annually in Atlanta. After being held on Independence Day from 1970 to 2019, the race was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic after originally being set for Thanksgiving. It is the world's largest 10k race, a title it has held since the late 1970s. The race has become a citywide tradition in which over 70,000 amateur and professional runners try to register for one of the limited 60,000 spots. The event also includes a wheelchair race, which precedes the footrace. In recent years, the race also has a special division for soldiers stationed in the Middle East. The race attracts some of the world's elite 10K runners and has served as both the United States' men's and women's 10K championship.

Sports in Georgia include professional teams, Olympic Games contenders and medalists, collegiate teams in major and small-school conferences and associations, and active amateur teams and individual sports.

Adrian Brooks is a former professional footballer who spent two seasons in the North American Soccer League and at least one in the Major Indoor Soccer League. He was a 1977 and 1978 first team All American, coached at the collegiate level and is a sales representative for Adidas.

Graham Tutt was an English professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper.
