The Attack of Haji Saman was a siege that occurred in Membakut, located in Sabah. The battle was part of the Anglo-Bruneian War between the combined forces of Brunei and the Royal Navy against Haji Saman.

Background

Upon finding that Haji Saman was living in Membakut and that he was involved in the plotting that caused Hashim's death, HEICS Phlegethon and HMS Iris departed there in a mission to avenge said Hashim. [1]

Battle

The Royal Navy besieged Haji Saman's house with about forty war prahus, from the different rivers in the vicinity, with a force of 500 men, armed with thirty brass swivel guns, joined the forces of the Royal Navy, the principal chieftains being Pengiran Madoud of Mangatal, and the orang-kayas of Kimanis, Papar, and Kallas. They destroyed Haji Saman's house but Haji Saman was nowhere to be found, escaping. [1]

Haji Saman escaped his fate unknown. [1]
