Augustine Geve (died 2002) was a Solomon Islands Catholic priest and politician. [1]
He was first elected to Parliament in the December 2001 general election,as MP for South Guadalcanal,at the time of the violent ethnic conflict on Guadalcanal. [2] He was then appointed Minister for Youth,Women and Sports in Prime Minister Allan Kemakeza's Cabinet. [3]
On August 20,2002,he was assassinated by Ronnie Cawa,Francis Lela and warlord Harold Keke "on a remote beach" on Guadalcanal. The three men were convicted for the crime and several other murders in March 2005 by High Court judge (and future Governor General) Frank Kabui,who sentenced them to life in jail. [4] Geve's vacant seat in Parliament was filled in a by-election,and he was succeeded by Victor Totu. [5]

Laurie Hok Si Chan is a politician and diplomat from the Solomon Islands. He served as Minister for Foreign Affairs from 2002 to 2006 and served in the National Parliament as MP for West Guadalcanal Constituency from 2001 to 2010. In May 2009,he was named Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs in Prime Minister Derek Sikua's government,and was fired from this same position in April 2010.
The Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI),also known as Operation Helpem Fren,Operation Anode and Operation Rata,began in 2003 in response to a request for international aid by the Governor-General of Solomon Islands. Helpem Fren means "help a friend" in Solomon Islands Pidgin. The mission officially ended on 30 June 2017.
