The Australian Institute of Professional Intelligence Officers (AIPIO for short) is a not-for-profit organisation which aims to promote the intelligence profession in Australia. It was incorporated in 1990. [1]

Membership is limited to persons who are linked to intelligence practice and/or training, and about 40% of members come from Australia's Law Enforcement community and/or government employment. The Institute has a number of objectives, including the development of the profession through training, exchange of ideas and concepts relating to the field of intelligence.

AIPIO was co-founded by Mr Don McDowell from the Australian Attorney-General's Department and Inspector Glenn Jones from the Australian Bureau of Criminal Intelligence/NSW Police Force.

The inaugural AIPIO Management Committee comprised the following individuals:

In 1991, AIPIO conducted its first annual conference, "Intel '91" which tool place at the Manly Pacific Hotel, Many, NSW.

Divided into Police Area Commands (PACs), for metropolitan areas and Police Districts (PDs), for regional and country areas, the NSW Police Force consists of more than 400 Police stations and over 18,000 officers, who are responsible for covering an area of 801,600 square kilometres and a population of more than 8.2 million people.

Glenn Murcutt Australian architect

Glenn Marcus Murcutt AO is an Australian architect and winner of the 1992 Alvar Aalto Medal, the 2002 Pritzker Architecture Prize, the 2009 American Institute of Architects Gold Medal and the 2021 Praemium Imperiale. Glenn Murcutt works as a sole practitioner without staff, builds only within Australia and is known to be very selective with his projects. Being the only Australian winner of the prestigious Pritzker Prize, he is often referred to as Australia's most famous architect.

Planning Institute Australia Peak national body for town planning and planning profession

Planning Institute of Australia (PIA) is the peak national body representing town planning and the planning profession in Australia. PIA represents approximately 5000 members nationally and internationally. It is governed by a National Board of Directors and managed by a professional administration. It is a member-based organisation with its management complemented by volunteers, who support and contribute to its activities on various levels.

Charles Taylor McDowell was professor emeritus and former director of the Center for Post-Soviet and Eastern European Studies at the University of Texas at Arlington, and a member of the Military Science Hall of Honor. Charles Rosenthal Australian politician

Major General Sir Charles Rosenthal, was an Australian architect, soldier, musician and politician. He commanded units of infantry in the Australian Imperial Force during the First World War, and in the 1920s was elected as a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly.

Minnie Lindsay Carpenter, née Rowell, was an Australian writer and an officer in The Salvation Army in Australia. She authored more than twelve books about Salvationist history. She also helped establish the Salvation Army International Nursing Fellowship and served as World President of the Home League. She married George Lyndon Carpenter, a Salvationist who was later elected as the fifth General of the Salvation Army in 1939.
