The Austrian Statistical Society (Österreichischen Statistischen Gesellschaft) is a national scientific organization. It publishes the Austrian Journal of Statistics (OCLC   609923675), formerly known as the Österreichische Zeitschrift für Statistik (OCLC   44588411).

OCLC Online Computer Library Center, Incorporated d/b/a OCLC is an American nonprofit cooperative organization "dedicated to the public purposes of furthering access to the world's information and reducing information costs". It was founded in 1967 as the Ohio College Library Center. OCLC and its member libraries cooperatively produce and maintain WorldCat, the largest online public access catalog (OPAC) in the world. OCLC is funded mainly by the fees that libraries have to pay for its services. OCLC also maintains the Dewey Decimal Classification system.

Journal

The official journal of the society is the Austrian Journal of Statistics (ISSN   1026-597X), a quarterly peer-reviewed open access scientific journal published under a Creative Commons Attribution License (CC-BY). [1] It was established in 1972 and covers the use of statistical methods in all kind of theoretical and applied disciplines. Special emphasis is put on methods and results in official statistics.

Calyampudi Radhakrishna Rao, FRS known as C R Rao is an Indian-American mathematician and statistician. He is currently professor emeritus at Pennsylvania State University and Research Professor at the University at Buffalo. Rao has been honoured by numerous colloquia, honorary degrees, and festschrifts and was awarded the US National Medal of Science in 2002. The American Statistical Association has described him as "a living legend whose work has influenced not just statistics, but has had far reaching implications for fields as varied as economics, genetics, anthropology, geology, national planning, demography, biometry, and medicine." The Times of India listed Rao as one of the top 10 Indian scientists of all time. Rao is also a Senior Policy and Statistics advisor for the Indian Heart Association non-profit focused on raising South Asian cardiovascular disease awareness.

Jerzy Neyman Polish statistician

Jerzy Neyman, born Jerzy Spława-Neyman, was a Polish mathematician and statistician who spent the first part of his professional career at various institutions in Warsaw, Poland and then at University College London, and the second part at the University of California, Berkeley. Neyman first introduced the modern concept of a confidence interval into statistical hypothesis testing and co-revised Ronald Fisher's null hypothesis testing.

The Zeitschrift für Geologische Wissenschaften is a peer-reviewed German scientific journal established in 1973, that publishes preferably original papers in German and English dealing with geology and related sub-disciplines. Since 2005 the journal has been published bimonthly by the Verlag für Geowissenschaften Berlin. The journal was formerly an official periodical of the national East German Gesellschaft für Geologische Wissenschaften, the East German geological sciences society, and was published by the scientific and academic publishing house Akademie Verlag. The journal was regarded as the most important geological sciences periodical in East Germany with an international reputation. The journal is indexed in: GeoRef, Chemical Abstracts Service, and Geoline.

REVSTAT is a peer-reviewed open access scientific journal that publishes papers related to statistics. It is published in English by the Instituto Nacional de Estatística, the national statistical office of Portugal. <i>Meteorologische Zeitschrift</i> journal

The Meteorologische Zeitschrift is a bimonthly international peer-reviewed Open Access scientific journal covering research in meteorology and climatology. All papers published since 2000 are in English language. The journal was established in 1866 by the Österreichische Gesellschaft für Meteorologie and is one of the oldest journals in the field. In 1884 a similar journal was established by the Deutsche Meteorologische Gesellschaft. The two journals merged in 1886 and existed until 1944. After being published separately in East and West Germany after 1945, the journal was reestablished in 1992 as a joint publication of the Austrian, Swiss, and German Meteorological Societies and is published by Borntraeger Science Publishers.

Pandurang Vasudeo Sukhatme (1911–1997) was an award-winning Indian statistician. He is known for his pioneering work of applying random sampling methods in agricultural statistics and in biometry, in the 1940s. He was also influential in the establishment of the Indian Agricultural Statistics Research Institute. As a part of his work at the Food and Agriculture Organization in Rome, he developed statistical models for assessing the dimensions of hunger and future food supplies for the world. He also developed methods for measuring the size and nature of the protein gap.

Mitteilungen der Österreichischen Geographischen Gesellschaft is a peer-reviewed scientific journal covering all aspects of geography, regionally often focusing on Central and Eastern Europe and the former areas of Austria-Hungary.

The Österreichische Gesellschaft für Operations Research (OeGOR) is the professional non-profit society for the scientific field of Operations Research in Austria. The society is recognized by the International Federation of Operational Research Societies and its subgrouping, the Association of European Operational Research Societies, as the main national society for Operations Research in its country.
