Soukous is a genre of dance music from Congo-Kinshasa and Congo-Brazzaville. It derived from Congolese rumba in the 1960s, becoming known for its fast dance rhythms and intricate guitar improvisation, and gained popularity in the 1980s in France. Although often used by journalists as a synonym for Congolese rumba, both the music and dance associated with soukous differ from more traditional rumba, especially in its higher tempo and longer dance sequences. Notable performers of the genre include Franco Luambo and his band TPOK Jazz, Papa Wemba, Sam Mangwana, Tabu Ley Rochereau, and Pépé Kallé.

Henri Bowane (1926–1992) was an influential figure in the development of Congolese rumba in the modern-day Democratic Republic of Congo. He was the first professional boss and early mentor to the legendary guitarist Franco Luambo.
Noël Ngiama Makanda known professionally as Werra Son, is a Congolese musician born December 25, 1965 in Moliambo, a small village in western DRC, in Kikwit region, Kwilu District. Werrason is one of the founding members of musical band Wenge Musica that was founded in 1981 while he was still studying for a degree in Accountancy. Werrason, and his college friends Didier Masela, Aimé Buanga, Machiro Kifaya and others formed the band and were later joined by J.B Mpiana. After the split of the original Wenge Musica, he co-founded Wenge Musica Maison Mère (WMMM) a musical band he created alongside Didier Masela and Adolphe Dominguez.

"Bumpy Ride" is a soca song by Swedish-Congolese R&B singer-songwriter Mohombi from his debut studio album, MoveMeant (2011). It was released as his debut single in the United States on 24 August 2010. Written by RedOne, Bilal "The Chef" Hajji, AJ Junior, and Mohombi, and produced by RedOne, it is the first release on RedOne's label 2101 Records, a joint venture with Universal Music. He also released a popular bilingual French/English version for the Francophone markets. The song became a number-one hit in The Netherlands, and a top ten hit in Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, and Sweden.
Nathalie Makoma, is a Congolese Dutch singer-songwriter. She was the lead singer for the group Makoma and she later embarked on a solo musical career on her own.
Makoma is a Christian, pop, R&B and dance musical group originating from Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo and established in the Netherlands. It is made up of 6 siblings : Nathalie Makoma, Annie Makoma, Pengani Makoma, Tutala Makoma, Duma Makoma, Martin Makoma and a non-family member, Patrick Badine. They mainly sing in Lingala and in French, Dutch and German.
Mohombi Nzasi Moupondo is a Congolese-Swedish musician, singer, composer and dancer. He grew up in Norsborg and Kista near Stockholm. Mohombi was RedOne's first signing to 2101 Records in joint venture with Universal Music Group. From 2000 to 2008, Mohombi was part of the Swedish hip hop group Avalon with his brother Djo Moupondo. Mohombi released his debut solo single "Bumpy Ride" in August 2010. The single became a worldwide hit, and charted in the top-ten in several countries, and was followed by his debut studio album MoveMeant in February 2011.
"Miss Me" is a song by Swedish-Congolese singer-songwriter Mohombi featuring vocals from Grammy Award-winning American recording artist, actor and entrepreneur Nelly from his debut album MoveMeant. It was released on 28 October 2010 as a Digital download in the United Kingdom. RedOne, AJ Junior, Mohombi, Ilya, Cornell Haynes Jr. and was produced by RedOne. It peaked at number 66 on the UK Singles Chart.
Ilya Salmanzadeh, known mononymously as ILYA, is a Swedish-Persian songwriter, producer and singer. He rose to prominence outside of Sweden after co-writing and producing Ariana Grande's "Problem" and Jennifer Lopez's "First Love".
"Habibi (I Need Your Love)" is a song by Jamaican rapper Shaggy with ensemble of Congolese-Swedish singer Mohombi, Lebanese-Australian singer Faydee and Romanian singer Costi. In a later specially released version targeting English language markets, the song is retitled "I Need Your Love" crediting Shaggy as main performer featuring Mohombi, Faydee and Costi. The song was written by the Australian recording artist of Lebanese origin Faydee and Romanian recording artist Costi. The song is in Arabic, English and Spanish. "Habibi" means "my love" in Arabic language. Additionally a number of mixed language versions were released including Bulgarian, French and Russian.
Vera Hamenoo-Kpeda(born 23 June 1992), better known by her stage name MzVee, is a Ghanaian singer, afropop, dancehall and R&B artiste. Her debut solo album features several hit singles including 'Borkor Borkor', 'Natural Girl' and 'Dancehall Queen'. MzVee was signed to the record label Lynx Entertainment and was the winner of the New Artiste of the Year award at the 2015 Ghana Music Awards. She parted ways with Lynx Entertainment in the year 2019. She is currently a solo artist.
