Beladamadu Gangadhar Jyothi Prakash Mirji (born 21 November 1953) is an Indian Police officer who served as the Commissioner of Bangalore City Police from 2 May 2011 to 5 April 2013. [1] [2] He joined as Deputy Superintendent of Police later getting promoted to the Indian Police Service. He retired as the Principal Secretary of the Home department, Government of Karnataka.He is well known for spearheading the operation to tackle down the dreaded forest brigand Veerappan, as the chief of the Karnataka Special Task Force. [3] [4] [5] Mirji was rewarded with the President's Vishisht Seva Medal in 2008, a Police Medal for meritorious and distinguished service. [6] [7]

K. Vijay Kumar

K Vijay Kumar, IPS, is a retired IPS officer. He was the chief of the Special Task Force of Tamil Nadu that was involved in the death of the Veerappan during Operation Cocoon of 2004. He had also been the senior advisor to Home Ministry for the Left Wing Extremism areas. Currently he is the advisor to Governor of Jammu and Kashmir with Home, Forest, Ecology & Environment, Health & Medical Education, Youth Services & Sports, Hospitality & Protocol, Civil Aviation, Estates and Information portfolios. He joined back as senior security adviser in Ministry of Home Affairs in December 2019.

Shankar Mahadev Bidari was the Director General and Inspector General of Police (DG&IGP) of the state of Karnataka. An Indian Police Service officer of 1978 batch, he was also the Commissioner of Police, Bangalore City. Bidari hails from Banahatti City in Bagalkot District, Karnataka. He was succeeded as DG & IGP by Abdul Rahman Infant in March 2012.

B. B. Ashok Kumar is a retired Assistant Commissioner of Police credited with arresting several notorious criminals and the many police encounters in which he was involved trying to capture hardened criminals.

R Sri Kumar is a vigilance commissioner in the Central Vigilance Commission, India. He assumed the role on September 8, 2010.

Operation Cocoon Place

Operation Cocoon was an operation launched by the Special Task Force of Tamil Nadu Police to capture the forest brigand Veerappan and his associates, who were dominant in Sathyamangalam Forest in the South Indian states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala. The operation was headed by K. Vijay Kumar, and N. K. Senthamarai Kannan Yadava.

Veerappan is a 2016 Indian Hindi-language biographical action crime film written and directed by Ram Gopal Varma. The film is based on the real-life Indian bandit Veerappan and the events leading to Operation Cocoon, a mission to capture and kill him. The film is a remake of the Kannada film Killing Veerappan (2016). The film stars Sandeep Bharadwaj, Sachiin J Joshi, Usha Jadhav and Lisa Ray.

L. Revanasiddaiah is a former Indian Police officer from Karnataka belonging to the Indian Police Service, 1965 batch. He served as the Director General and Inspector General of Police, Karnataka and was also the Additional Director of Central Bureau of Investigation. He was also the Commissioner of Bangalore City Police from 14-04-1997 to 18-11-1999. He was responsible for the introduction of the Police patrolling units, Hoysala, and also Makkala Sahayavani and Vanitha Sahayavani, the children's and women's helplines respectively. He is currently the president of the Foundation for the Restoration of Human Dignity(FORHD), an NGO into the service of the distressed children and women belonging to the families of convicts. Revanasiddaiah is the recipient of the Chief Ministers Gold Medal for excellence in Investigation in 1980, President’s Gold Medal for meritorious service, and President’s Medal for Distinguished Service in 1984.

Roopa Divakar Moudgil, commonly known as D. Roopa is an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer who is the current Inspector General of Police, Bengaluru.

Founded in July 1963, the post has been held by 32 officers of the Indian Police Service (IPS), the first of whom was C. Chandy. The average length of tenure is 1 year, 8 months; Bangalore's longest-serving Police Commissioner is P. G. Halarnkar, who held office for 3 years, 9 months in the mid-1980s. The current incumbent is Kamal Pant, who has held office since 1 August 2020.

Bhaskar Rao is a 1990 batch Indian police officer who served as the Commissioner of Bengaluru City Police, from 2 August 2019 to 1 August 2020. Rao comes from Bengaluru and was previously Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) in the Karnataka State Reserve Police as well as ADGP, Internal security Division. Currently, Rao is serving as the ADGP, Railways.
