BAE Tungurahua was a ship in the Ecuadorian navy during World War II, when she was bought from a private owner and refitted shortly after the nation declared war on Japan. However, it was scrapped after less than six months having serial engine troubles. A refit was considered too expensive. It was named after a volcano in the province of Tungurahua in Ecuador. [1]

The Banff-class sloop was a group of ten warships of the Royal Navy. Built as United States Coast Guard Lake-class cutters, in 1941 these ships were loaned to the Royal Navy as antisubmarine warfare escort ships.
