BC Palanga was a professional basketball club based in Palanga, Lithuania that played in the National Basketball League. The team was founded in 2014 after a confusing situation when the BC Palanga team founded in 1999 moved to Vilnius.

The club participates in the Lithuanian Basketball League. It was founded in 1962 under the name BC Maistas and in 1964, BC Maistas's name was changed to BC Neptūnas. The club carries the name of the Roman sea god Neptune. Neptūnas participated in the 2014–15 EuroLeague season and is only the third Lithuanian club to participate in the premier European basketball league, after Žalgiris and Rytas.

BC Lietkabelis, commonly known as Lietkabelis Panevėžys, also known as 7bet-Lietkabelis for sponsorship reasons, is a Lithuanian professional basketball club based in Panevėžys, Lithuania, participating in the Lithuanian Basketball League and internationally in the EuroCup. The team plays its home games at Kalnapilis Arena, a multi-purpose facility that also doubles as a velodrome. Founded as Lietkabelis in 1964, the team was known by other names between 1996 and 2012. In 2012, after a change in ownership, the team's historic name was restored. It comes from the team's main sponsor, a wire and cable manufacturing company.

Šventoji is a small resort town on the coast of the Baltic Sea in Lithuania. Administratively it is part of Palanga City Municipality. The total population of Šventoji as of 2012 was 2631. The town is located about 12 km north of Palanga center and close to the border with Latvia. Further north of the town is Būtingė and its oil terminal. Šventoji River flows into the Baltic sea at the town. The town also has a famous lighthouse, which is located 780 meters from the sea. Its height is 39 meters. The town is a popular summer resort for families, during summer it has many cafes, restaurants and various attractions for the visitors.

BC Prienai was a Lithuanian professional basketball club based in Prienai. They played domestically in the Lithuanian Basketball League every year since winning the promotion in 2009. During the 2008–09 season, then called Rūdupis, they became the champion of the NKL and won the challenge match for a slot in the LKL. In their debut LKL season Rūdupis took seventh place, while next two seasons brought BC Prienai two bronze LKL medals. BC Prienai played in EuroCup 2011–12 with moderate success; the team won 3 games out of 6, but nonetheless failed to qualify for the next stage. More recently, the team has become a strong competitor in domestic tournaments, more than once upsetting teams such as Žalgiris Kaunas and Lietuvos rytas Vilnius. Jermaine Love-Roberts is an American professional basketball player who plays for Peristeri of the Greek Basket League and BCL. A 6'3", 186 lbs combo guard, Love played for Prairie State College and at University of Illinois at Springfield before going overseas to Lithuania to play for BC Palanga and BC Vilnius of the National Basketball League.

BC Lietkabelis-2 is dissolved the reserve team for BC Lietkabelis. BC "Palanga" professional basketball club was founded in 1999. In 2006 club name was changed to BC "Naglis-Adakris" because of the club supporters UAB „Adakris“ but in 2011, club name was reverted to BC "Naglis" again, changing its name to "Palanga" in 2012. For the 2014–2015 season the team moved to Vilnius and became BC Vilnius, after that one season in the capital, they moved to Panevėžys to become the reserve team of BC Lietkabelis.

Palangos Kuršiai was a Lithuanian professional basketball club based in Palanga. The team played in the National Basketball League. The club was bought by Gedvydas Vainauskas and Jonas Vainauskas in June 2023, who formed new basketball club BC Olimpas Palanga.

The 2019 A Lyga was the 30th season of the A Lyga, the top-tier association football league of Lithuania. The season began on 2 March 2019 and ended on 27 November 2019.

The 2020 A Lyga was the 31st season of the A Lyga, the top-tier football league of Lithuania. The season began on 6 March and was planned to end on 7 November 2020. On 12 March all sports events were postponed for two weeks in the light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
