Bonheiden is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality comprises the towns of Bonheiden proper and Rijmenam. On January 1, 2006, Bonheiden had a total population of 14,510. The total area is 29.27 km² which gives a population density of 496 inhabitants per km².
Sven Nys is a former professional cyclist competing in cyclo-cross and mountain bike. With two world championships, seven world cups, and over 140 competitive victories, he is considered one of the best cyclo-cross racers of his generation, and remains a prominent figure in cyclo-cross. Apart from cyclo-cross, Nys is also fivefold national mountainbike champion, and has competed in that discipline in two Olympic games.

Richard Marinus Anthonius Groenendaal is a Dutch former professional cyclo-cross cyclist. The Grand Prix Sven Nys or GP Sven Nys is a cyclo-cross race held in Baal, Belgium. The race is named after cyclo-cross legend Sven Nys who is a citizen of Baal. Nys won his "own" race 12 out of 16 times he competed. He was sick at home for the 14th edition in 2013. The race is part of the X²O Badkamers Trophy.
Lars Anthonius Johannes Boom is a professional cyclo-cross and mountain bike racing cyclist. He has also competed professionally in road racing, between 2004 and 2019.
Zdeněk Štybar is a Czech professional cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam Deceuninck–Quick-Step. While best known as a cyclo-cross racer, in 2011 Štybar began his professional road career while continuing to race cyclo-cross.
Tom Meeusen is a Belgian cyclo-cross and road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Cyclo-cross team Group Hens–Maes Containers.
Bart Aernouts is a professional cyclist who competes mainly in cyclo-cross races. Aernouts often finishes only a few places behind big names such as Sven Nys, Niels Albert and Zdeněk Štybar, but occasionally manages top results in high calibre races of the Gazet van Antwerpen Trophy or the Superprestige.
The 2012–2013 UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup events and season-long competition took place between 21 October 2012 and 20 January 2013, sponsored by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). The events in Igorre and Liévin were dropped from the series, replaced by the return of Roubaix and the introduction of Rome.
The 2012–2013 Cyclo-cross Superprestige events and season-long competition took place between 7 October 2012 and 16 February 2013. Sven Nys won it for the 12th time, leading the classification from start to finish.

The 2013–2014 Cyclo-cross Superprestige events and season-long competition took place between 27 October 2013 and 15 February 2014. Sven Nys won his 13th Superprestige, overtaking Niels Albert in the final race of the season.
Mathieu van der Poel is a Dutch cyclist, who currently rides for UCI ProTeam Alpecin–Fenix. He competes in the cyclo-cross, mountain bike racing and road bicycle racing disciplines of the sport and is best known for winning the Cyclo-cross World Championships in Tábor in 2015, Bogense in 2019, Dübendorf in 2020 and Ostend in 2021 the Junior Road Race World Championships in Florence in 2013, and twice winning the Junior Cyclo-cross World Championships, in Koksijde in 2012 and Louisville in 2013; the first rider to win multiple titles at that level. As well as this, Van der Poel was the winner of the 2018 Dutch National Road Race Championships in Hoogerheide, as well as the 2019 editions of Dwars door Vlaanderen, the Brabantse Pijl, and the Amstel Gold Race.
The BPost Bank Trophy 2014–2015 is a season long cyclo-cross competition which began on 12 October with the GP Mario De Clercq and will end on 7 February in Lille. In this season Oostmalle, that became an independent race this season, is replaced by Hamme, a former race in the Superprestige.
Wout van Aert is a Belgian professional road and cyclo-cross racer, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam Team Jumbo–Visma. He won the men's elite race at the UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships in 2016, 2017 and 2018. He joined Team Jumbo–Visma in March 2019, on a three-year deal after terminating his contract with Vérandas Willems–Crelan in 2018.
Benjamin Elliott Turner is a British cyclist, who currently competes in cyclo-cross for UCI Cyclo-cross team Trinity Racing.
