The Franconian Saale is a 140 km long river in Bavaria, Germany. It is a right-bank tributary of the Main, in Lower Franconia. It should not be confused with the larger Saxon Saale, which is a tributary of the Elbe River.
Bad Neustadt an der Saale, officially Bad Neustadt a. d. Saale and often simply called Bad Neustadt, is a town in northern Bavaria, Germany. It is the capital of the Rhön-Grabfeld district in Lower Franconia. It is situated on the rivers Franconian Saale and Brend, near the Rhön Mountains, 30 km north of Schweinfurt, and 47 km southeast of Fulda.

The Palatine Northern Railway is a non-electrified single-track main line that connects Neustadt (Weinstr) Hbf with Monsheim in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. It was opened between 1865 and 1873 in three stages. With the replacement of the old Ludwigshafen terminus with the modern Ludwigshafen Hauptbahnhof through station in 1969, Bad Dürkheim station became the only station in the form of a terminus in the Palatinate region. Passenger services over the Grünstadt–Monsheim section were discontinued in 1984, but re-established in 1995.
Schweinfurt Hauptbahnhof is the largest railway station in the Lower Franconian city of Schweinfurt and its transfer hub to the majority of regional buses. In addition to the Hauptbahnhof, the Schweinfurt Mitte and Schweinfurt Stadt stations also lie within the city, closer to the centre, on the Bamberg–Würzburg railway.

The Schweinfurt–Meiningen railway, route number 5240, is a single-tracked main line in the states of Bavaria and Saxony in southern Germany. It is also called the Main-Rhön-Bahn and is listed in the Deutsche Bahn timetable as route (Kursbuchstrecke) 815. The railway has been part of the Erfurt–Schweinfurt route since 1993. Passenger services on the line are provided by DB Regio and the Erfurter Bahn (EB).

In addition to the Hauptbahnhof, Rhine-Neckar S-Bahn services stop at Neustadt (Weinstr) Böbig halt (Haltepunkt). Mußbach station and Neustadt (Weinstr) halt, opened on 19 November 2013, are also located in Neustadt.

The Lübeck–Puttgarden railway is part of the international Vogelfluglinie between Germany and Denmark and connects Lübeck with Puttgarden on the Baltic Sea island of Fehmarn in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. Bad Dürkheim station is a terminal station in Bad Dürkheim in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. It is on the Palatinate Northern Railway between Neustadt an der Weinstraße and Monsheim. It is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 5 station.
Winden station is in the town of Winden in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate and is its public transport node. At the station, the line to Wissembourg in Alsace branches off the Palatine Maximilian Railway, which runs from Neustadt an der Weinstraße to Karlsruhe. In addition, the Kurbadlinie branches off at the station to Bad Bergzabern. It is located at the eastern edge of the town. It is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 4 station.

Deutsche Bahn classifies it as belonging to category 4 and it has four platform tracks. The station is located in the network of the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Neckar and belongs to fare zone 100. Its address is Bahnhofstraße 1.
Leinefelde station is a major railway junction in the German state of Thuringia and is the most important station in Eichsfeld. It is located in the town of Leinefelde in the Thuringian municipality of Leinefelde-Worbis in the Eichsfeld district. The Halle–Kassel and Gotha–Leinefelde railways meet there and in the past the now closed Leinefelde–Wulften and Leinefelde–Treysa railways also connected with the station. The latter route was part of the Kanonenbahn between Berlin and Metz.
The Merseburg–Halle-Nietleben railway is an about 19 kilometre-long electrified branch line in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt. A second track exists between Merseburg and Merseburg-Elisabethhöhe and between Halle-Zscherbener Straße and Halle-Nietleben. Part of the current route was built in 1967 with a significant realignment of the Zwiebelbahn on the (Merseburg–) Bad Lauchstädt–Angersdorf route.
