The 10th Parliament of Kenya saw the National Assembly opened on 15 January 2008. This following the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) of Raila Odinga winning a majority in the 2007 parliamentary elections. Raila was a candidate in the presidential elections, which resulted in a controversial victory for Mwai Kibaki of the Party of National Unity. The opening of the parliament was fraught with jeers, cheers and brawls between the opposing parties; Mwai Kibaki was greeted by the ODM members with silence and boos, while Raila was greeted by PNU members with accusations of genocide.

He was the Minister for Medical Services and previously the Minister for Planning & National Development. He previously served as the Senator of Kisumu from 2013 to 2017.

Hassan Ali Joho is a Kenyan politician and the former Governor of Mombasa County affiliated with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM). He was also elected to represent the Kisauni Constituency in the National Assembly of Kenya during the 2007 Kenyan parliamentary election. On 4 March 2013, during the general election, Joho was elected as the first governor of Mombasa County. In the 2017 General Elections held on 8 August, Joho retained his seat on an ODM ticket. Despite significant politically engineered setbacks, Joho emerged triumphant by winning with 220 576 votes against his closest rival Suleiman Shahbal with 69 322 votes, Suleiman was a member of the Jubilee Party. Joho served as governor of Mombasa until 2022, when he completed the constitunionally allowed two five-year terms. He was succeded by Abdulswammad Sherrif Nassir the former member of the National Assembly for Mvita Constituency.

Changamwe Constituency is an electoral constituency in Mombasa county, Kenya. It used to be one of the four constituencies in Mombasa district. With the promulgation of the new constitution in August 2010, it saw a creation of two more constituencies in Mombasa County. These are Jomvu and Nyali Constituencies which were curved out from Changamwe and Kisauni Constituencies respectively thereby bringing a total of six constituencies in 2012.

Abdullswamad Sheriff Nassir is a Kenyan politician. He is the governor of Mombasa County. He was elected on an ODM ticket under Azimio la Umoja, One Kenya Alliance in the 2022 General Election. He earlier served as Member of Parliament (MP) for Mvita Constituency from 2012 to 2022).

Rashida Juma Bezimba is a Kenyan politician and a member of Kenyan parliament elected from Kisauni Constituency.
