Bahrain Polytechnic is a government-owned tertiary education institute located in the Kingdom of Bahrain. It has been established by King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa; King of Bahrain by Royal Decree in July 2008. It is considered a key initiative for the Education and Training Development Committee; a project of the Bahrain Vision 2030 master plan that aims to achieve a sustainable economy. [1] Bahrain Polytechnic delivers applied learning, technical education, skills-based and occupational training. Degrees offered range from certificate courses, diplomas, to bachelor's degree levels.
Bahrain Polytechnic was established by Royal Decree number 65 for the year 2008 by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain.[ citation needed ]
Bahrain Polytechnic's official opening ceremony took place on 30 November 2008, by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Chairman of the Economic Development Board. The opening ceremony was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister of Bahrain and the Head of the Education and Training Committee Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Ministers, and other members of the government and the Education Reform Project Board. The Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Mohammed paid a visit to Bahrain Polytechnic's premises in June 2008, to inspect the steps taken and to pave the way for the official opening with took place later on that year. [3]
The Chairman of the Board and the first four members have been assigned for four consecutive years, and the later three have been assigned for three consecutive years. On Tuesday, 27 April 2021, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa issued a Royal Decree No. (55) for the year 2021 reforming Bahrain Polytechnic's Board of Trustees under the chairmanship of Wael Bin Nasser Al Mubarak. Bahrain Polytechnic is located in Isa Town, approximately 14 kilometers to the South West of central Manama. The Campus currently is shared between Bahrain Polytechnic and University of Bahrain's Engineering College and Applied Sciences College. Plans are that Bahrain Polytechnic will take over the entire campus in the coming years, while University of Bahrain will fully locate itself in its main and already established campus in Sakhir.
As for Bahrain Polytechnic's campus in Isa Town, Bahrain's Ministry of Works is leading a campus master plan project [5] in which the current campus's buildings will be replaced with a modern state-of-art campus. The target budget for the whole scope of the project including the consultants’ fees is approximately US$250 million.
The Ministry of Works sought proposals internationally from Consultancy firms to undertake the development of Bahrain Polytechnic's campus master plan and concept design of all the facilities. Four companies have bid for the project. In November 2009 the Tender Board awarded the task to international architectural firm Aedas. This was followed by official appointment of designer with the Ministry on 11 January 2010 and commencement of design work shortly afterwards. [6]
Bahrain Polytechnic's new campus will be developed in stages.[ when? ] The construction development period assumes six stages of development, over nearly nine to ten years.[ citation needed ]
Hamad bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa is King of Bahrain since 14 February 2002, after ruling as Emir of Bahrain from 6 March 1999. He is the son of Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the previous and first emir. The country has been ruled by the Al Khalifa dynasty since 1783.
Mohammad bin Mubarak Al Khalifa is a Bahraini politician and a member of the Bahrain's royal family. He served as Bahrain's Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1969 to 2005, and then as the Deputy Prime Minister until 21 November 2022.
The House of Khalifa is the ruling family of the Kingdom of Bahrain. The Al Khalifas profess Sunni Islam and belong to the Anizah tribe. Some members of this tribe joined the Utub alliance which migrated from Najd in central Arabia to Kuwait, then ruled all of Qatar, more specifically Al Zubarah, which they built and ruled over before settling in Bahrain in the early 17th century. The current head of the family is King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, who became the Emir of Bahrain in 1999 and proclaimed himself King of Bahrain in 2002, in fact becoming a constitutional monarch.

Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, also known as Prince Nasser, is a member of the Bahraini royal family, Commander of Bahrain's Royal Guard, deputy chairman of the Higher Committee for Energy and Natural Resources and the head of the government's Supreme Council for Youth and Sports. He is the third in line of the heir apparent of the Kingdom of Bahrain. In April 2021, he was appointed as chairman of Bapco Energies, formerly called “nogaholding".

The National Security Agency (NSA) or Bahrain Intelligence Agency (BIA1) is an investigative authority in Bahrain that is associated with but not formally part of the Ministry of the Interior. The NSA was formed after King Hamad issued Decree No. 14 of 2002 declaring it as the replacement of the General Directorate for State Security Investigations. The NSA was granted the power to make arrests by a 2008 royal decree, and lost this power in 2011, again by royal decree.
The Information Affairs Authority (IAA) is Bahrain's ministry of information that was formed in July 2010. The president of IAA is appointed directly by the King of Bahrain and has the rank of a minister in the Bahrain government. From July 2010 to 2012, Fawaz bin Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa was President of IAA. In 2012, he relinquished the position to take up an appointment as Minister of State for Communication, and Sameera Rajab was appointed in his place.

Aymen Tawfeeq Abdulrahman Almoayed is a Bahraini diplomat, lawyer and strategist, and was the youngest member in the Cabinet of Bahrain until the cabinet reshuffle on June 14, 2022. Almoayed was appointed as the Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports in the Kingdom of Bahrain on November 21, 2022.

Derasat, or the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International & Energy Studies (دِراسات), is a government-sponsored think tank in Bahrain. Its name is the Arabic word for "studies". It was created in 2009 by King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to make a contribution to the country's public policy decision-making.
