Bailey Nelson (registered as Ben Buckler Eyewear Limited [1] ) is an Australian optical retail chain operating mainly in Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

History

Nick Perry and Peter Winkle founded the company in the Bondi Beach area of Sydney, New South Wales in 2012. [1] Perry says they received no outside funding at the start, investing $80,000 of their own savings. [2]

The company started by offering glasses and later ventured into contact lenses. [3] Optometry services were introduced in their stores in 2014. [2]

Bailey Nelson entered the Canadian market in 2014, closed their Canadian stores 2017 at the end of a licensing agreement, then re-entered the Canadian market, operating 15 stores there in 2019. [4] [5] [6] In 2015, it had 4 branches in the UK. [7] Also in 2015, they opened up shop in Wellington, New Zealand. [8]

The company ceased operations in the United Kingdom in May 2023, closing their two shops in London and their online store. [9]
