Bajrangdas was a saint from Bagdana village of Mahva Taluka in Bhavnagar district, Gujarat. He is known as Bajrandas Bapa, Bapa Sitaram and Bapa by his devotee. [1] [2]

Life

Bajrangdas Bapa's family was originated from Rajasthan. Ramanand Sadhu then moved from Rajasthan to Bhavnagar District of Gujarat. Bajrangdas was born in 1906 in Zhanzaria Hanuman Temple in the village of Adhewada as Bhaktiram to Shivakunvarba who was the mother of Bajrandas. [1] [3] [4] His father's name was Haridasbapu. At the age of 11, Bajrangdas met many monks. he met his spitrual teacher 'guru' in Ayodhya where he became a disciple and attended the Kumbh Mela in Nashik. [5] He also visited different places such as Surat, Palitana and Mumbai. Some of his famous parcha is when Bapa Bajrangdas was joining a congregation of sadhus in Mumbai during the summer. Then the congregation of monks expressed their desire to drink water, there was a great scarcity of drinking water. Guruji asked Bapa to arrange water. Following Guruji's order, Bapa Bajrangdas digging a hole in the sand of the sea with his hands to draw water and sweet water came out. [6] Once when Bapa was passing through the forest with his Guru and his sadhu congregation, a herd of lions met on the road and Bapa chanted the Sitaram name to them and ordered the herd to move away from their path and the sadhu congregation moved on. [7] In 1941, Bajrangdas Bapa went to Bagdana and lived in a small cottage and built and ashram. [8] Bajrangdas bapa died on 9th January 1977 at 5pm. [9]

Bajrangdas Bapa's temples are mostly founded in the state of Gujarat. Bagdana is known as the main temple of Bajrangdas bapa. Along with the temple, Smaller shines are also built of Samadhi Mandir, Kal Bhairav statue, Temple of Rama where Lord Ram, Sita, Lakshman and Hanuman, Temple of Annapurna Devi, Ganesh temple and Hanuman temple. The Bishnoi Panth, also spelled as Vishnoi Panth, is a religious sect or Panth found in the Western Thar Desert and northern states of India. It has a set of 29 Niyamas (principles/commandments) given by Guru Jambheshwar (1451–1536). As of 2010, there are an estimated 600,000 followers of Bishnoi Panth residing in north and central India. Shree Guru Jambheshwar founded the sect at Samrathal Dhora in 1485 and his teachings, comprising 120 shabads, are known as Shabadwani. He preached for the next 51 years, travelling across India. Jalaram Bapa popularly known as Bapa (4 November 1799 – 23 February 1881 was a Hindu saint from Gujarat, India. He was born on 4 November 1799, one week after the Hindu festival of Diwali, which is associated with his Iṣṭa-devatā Lord Rama. He is mainly worshipped in Gujarat. Thursday is the day that is associated with him in Hinduism. Images of Jalaram Bapa usually portray him as wearing white, with a stick in his left hand and a tulsi mala in his right hand. He is always dressed in simple clothes which is a symbol of purity.

Amritlal Vithaldas Thakkar, popularly known as Thakkar Bapa was an Indian social worker who worked for upliftment of tribal people in what is now Gujarat state in India. He became a member of the Servants of India Society in 1914 founded by Gopal Krishna Gokhale in 1905. In 1922, he founded the Bhil Seva Mandal. Later, he became the general secretary of the Harijan Sevak Sangh founded by Mahatma Gandhi in 1932. The Bharatiya Adimjati Sevak Sangh was founded on 24 October 1948 on his initiative. When Indian constitution was in process, Kenvi visited the most remote and difficult parts of India and conducted investigations into the situation of tribal and Harijan people. He was appointed the chairman of "Excluded and Partially Excluded Areas, a sub committee of the constituent assembly. Mahatma Gandhi would call him 'bapa'. In one of his appeals in 1939 Mahatma Gandhi called him "Father of Harijans".
