Ballyarnett is one of the seven district electoral areas (DEA) in Derry and Strabane, Northern Ireland. [1] The district elects six members to Derry and Strabane District Council and contains the wards of Carn Hill, Culmore, Galliagh, Shantallow, Shantallow East and Skeoge. [2] Ballyarnett forms part of the Foyle constituencies for the Northern Ireland Assembly and UK Parliament.
It was created for the 2014 local elections, replacing the Shantallow DEA which had existed since 1985.

Collin is one of the ten district electoral areas (DEA) in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The district elects six members to Belfast City Council and contains the wards of Dunmurry; Ladybrook; Lagmore; Poleglass; Twinbrook and Stewartstown. Collin, along with neighbouring Black Mountain and most of the Court District Electoral Area, forms the greater part of the Belfast West constituencies for the Northern Ireland Assembly and UK Parliament.
The first election to the new Derry and Strabane District Council took place on 22 May 2014, as part of the Northern Ireland local elections that year.
Aontú is an all-Ireland political party that was formally launched in January 2019, and operates in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Ideologically, Aontú is opposed to abortion and combines elements of social conservatism with advocacy for a united Ireland and centre-left economics. It has been led by Peadar Tóibín since its foundation.
The 2019 election to the Derry City and Strabane District Council, part of the Northern Ireland local elections on 2 May 2019, returned 40 members to the council via Single Transferable Vote.

The 2023 election to Derry City and Strabane District Council was held on 18 May 2023, alongside other local elections in Northern Ireland, two weeks after local elections in England. The Northern Ireland elections were delayed by 2 weeks to avoid overlapping with the coronation of King Charles III.
