Ilesa is a historic city located in Osun State,southwest Nigeria;it is also the name of a historic kingdom centred on that town. The state is ruled by a monarch bearing the title of the Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesaland. The state of Ilesa consists of Ilesa itself and a number of smaller surrounding cities.

On 26 November 2010 a court of appeals nullified his election. He later defected to the APC shortly before the 2014 Osun State governorship election. He was former military administrator of Lagos State.
Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) is a federal university in Ile-Ife,Osun State,Nigeria. The university was founded in 1961 and classes commenced in October 1962 as the University of Ife by the regional government of Western Nigeria,which was led by Samuel Ladoke Akintola. It was renamed "Obafemi Awolowo University" on 12 May 1987,so by the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida led military administration,in honour of Obafemi Awolowo (1909–1987),the first premier of the Western Region of Nigeria,who initially thought of the idea of establishing the university.
Olajide Aluko was a Nigerian scholar who in October 1977 became the first professor of international relations in Sub-Saharan Africa. He was also said to be the Doyen of International Relations. He was a prolific writer and conference speaker who wrote and editted several books and journals concerning international relations.
The Obafemi Awolowo University massacre was a mass murder of students of Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife,Osun State,Nigeria on 10 July 1999. Five students of OAU were killed and eleven injured.

Nahzeem Olufemi "Femi" Mimiko is a Nigerian educational administrator and former vice chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University,a state-owned university named after the former governor of Ondo State,Nigeria,Adekunle Ajasin. The university was ranked the best state university in Nigeria by the United States Transparency International Standard (USTIS) in April 2014. Mimiko was the only vice chancellor delegate at the National Conference in Nigeria held in 2014 under the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan. Mimiko assumed office in January 2010 and was preceded by Philip Olayede Abiodun. In 2016,he had a stint as African and African-American Studies Associate,at Harvard University,Cambridge,MA,USA.
Micheal Oladimeji Faborode is a Nigerian educational administrator and a professor of Agricultural Engineering. He was vice chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University from 2006 to 2011.

Cyril Agodi Onwumechili was a Nigerian physicist,academic administrator,and professor of geophysics at the University of Ibadan and later University of Nigeria,Nsukka. Anthony Olusegun Adegbulugbe is a Nigerian professor of Energy Planning and Management,notable for his significant contributions to Nigeria's energy industry. He is the third chancellor of Joseph Ayo Babalola University and will officially resume office by December 8,2023. Adegbulugbe served as a special adviser on Energy to Former President Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria. He was a Member of the National Economic Management Team,and the Chairman of the National Gas to Power initiative between 2005 and 2007. Adegbulugbe was a contributor to the inter-governmental panel on Climate change (IPCC) Assessments reports which won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize along with former US Vice President Al Gore. He has played a crucial role in shaping energy policies in Nigeria.
