Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) is a state owned autonomous national research institute and think tank working as a statutory institute that carries out research on security and strategic issues in Bangladesh and is located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. [1] [2] Major General Md Jubayer Salehin is current Director General [3] and Ambassador A F M Gousal Azam Sarker is the current Chairman of BIISS. [4]
The institute was established in 1978 by the Government of Bangladesh as a statutory organisation. [1] The institute is under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. [5]
Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, commonly known by the acronym BUET, is a public technological research university in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Founded in 1876 as the Dacca Survey School and gained university status in 1962, it is the oldest institution for the study of engineering, architecture, and urban planning in Bangladesh.
North South University is a private research university in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was established in 1992 by the then Foundation for Promotion of Education and Research (FPER), a charitable, non-profit, non-commercial and non-political organization. The FPER later was renamed as the NSU Foundation and is presently called The North South Foundation for Education and Research. The university has a student body of over 20,000 students, including students from Bangladesh and over 50 other countries.
The Jatiya Party is a political party in Bangladesh self-describing as conservative, and is currently the main opposition in the Jatiya Sangsad, against the Awami League. The current chairman of the party is Ghulam Muhammed Quader. On 3 January 2019, the party announced its decision to join the Bangladesh Awami League-led Grand Alliance after having been in opposition for the previous parliamentary term. However, the party backtracked the next day and announced that it intended to remain part of the opposition. Currently, it holds Rangpur out of Bangladesh's 12 city corporations. The current chairperson of the party is Ghulam Muhammed Quader MP.
A. H. M. Moniruzzaman is a career diplomat in the Bangladesh Foreign Service. He served as the head of Bangladesh's mission to the European Commission in Brussels and ambassador to Belgium and Luxembourg from September 2006 until December 2008. He was concurrently ambassador to Switzerland.
Syed Modasser AliFRCS, FRCOpth is an ophthalmic surgeon from Bangladesh and was the Health, Family Welfare and Social Welfare adviser to the Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, from 2009 to 2013. He is the founder of Mojibunnessa Eye Hospital, the first registered eye hospital in Bangladesh and founding editor-in-chief of the Bangladesh Ophthalmic Journal, the first peer-review ophthalmic journal in Bangladesh. He is regarded as one of the pioneers of Community Ophthalmology and his book titled Community Ophthalmology, published in 1985, is considered to be the first textbook on the subject by the British Journal of Ophthalmology. He is currently overseeing the Bangladesh Community Clinic programme as chair of the board of trustees. He is an executive board member of the World Health Organization (WHO), having previously served on the board twice before.
Mohammad Abdul Mubeen is a retired Bangladeshi army officer who served as the Chief of Army Staff of the Bangladesh Army from 2009 to 2012. Prior to his appointment as Chief of Army Staff, Abdul Mubeen served as Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division. He served as General Officer Commanding of two divisions: the 24th Infantry Division and the 55th Infantry Division. He retired from the army in 2012 after serving as army chief.

ARTDOC is a research-oriented formation in the Bangladesh Army. Its headquarters is located in Momenshahi Cantonment, Mymensingh. Sheikh Mohammad Shafiuddin Ahmed is a retired Bangladeshi four star general who was Chief of Army Staff (CAS) of the Bangladesh Army, from 24 June 2021 to 23 June 2024. Prior to his appointment as CAS, he served as the quartermaster general (QMG) of Bangladesh Army as a lieutenant general. In his 40 year long military career he has also served as director general of Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS), Director of Military Training (DMT), besides commanding an infantry brigade and an infantry division.

He was the ambassador of Bangladesh to France, Australia and Thailand during 2010–2021. He was also accredited to other countries including Cambodia, Fiji, New Zealand, Vanuatu, and Solomon Islands.
