Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL) is a Bangladesh Government owned company [1] formed with the aim to operate the country's first satellite, the Bangabandhu Satellite-1. [2] [3] [4]
Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited was established on 15 August 2017. The company had been authorized a capital of 50 billion BDT and paid capital of five billion BDT. [5] The decision to form the company was approved at a Cabinet of Bangladesh meeting in July 2017. The company is managed by SPARRSO which is the national space agency of Bangladesh. [6] Currently there are in total 35 employees including Managing Director & Company Secretary. [7] The Bangabandhu Satellite 1 was launched in a joint collaboration with French company, Thales Alenia Space. It is the first satellite owned and operated by Bangladesh. Thales Alenia Space has built ground control stations in Gazipur and Rangamati Districts for the satellite operation.

The satellite was the first payload launched by a SpaceX Falcon 9 Block 5 launch vehicle. Bangladesh became the 57th country to possess an independent satellite in space with the launch of 'Bangabandhu-1'.

Athena-Fidus is a French-Italian telecommunication satellite providing high-throughput secure communications to both nation's armed forces and their emergency services. It was manufactured by Thales Alenia Space under the supervision of CNES, the Direction générale de l'armement (DGA) and the Italian Space Agency (ASI). It complements the lower-throughput but more secure Syracuse 3 satellites. The satellite has a wet mass of 3080 kg and was placed on geostationary orbit in 2014. Its expected lifetime is 15 years.

The South Asia Satellite, formerly known as SAARC Satellite, is a geostationary communications and meteorology satellite operated by the Indian Space Research Organisation for the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) region. The satellite was launched on 5 May 2017. During the 18th SAARC summit held in Nepal in 2014, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi mooted the idea of a satellite serving the needs of SAARC member nations as a part of his neighbourhood first policy. Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka are the users of the multi-dimensional facilities provided by the satellite.
SES-17, is a high throughput all electric geostationary communications satellite owned and operated by SES S.A., and designed and manufactured by Thales Alenia Space. Launched on 24 October 2021 from Centre Spatial Guyanais (CSG), in Kourou, French Guiana by an Ariane 5ECA launch vehicle, SES-17 was positioned at 67.1° west in May 2022 and, after testing, became fully operational in June 2022.
