Bangladesh Textile Mills Association or BTMA is the national trade body for textile mills, manufacturers, and mills in Bangladesh and is located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. [1] [2] It carries out research on the Textile Industry in Bangladesh. [3] Tapan Chowdhury, the Chairman of Square Group, is the president of the trade association. [4]

History

Bangladesh Textile Mills Association was established & has been registered in 1983 with the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies as an Association, not for profit, under the Companies Act 1994. It is managed by 27 Board of Directors, 3 vice presidents and one president. [5] Its certificate is necessary for the import of textile machines in Bangladesh. [6] It along with the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) and Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) represent the garment industry in Bangladesh. [7] It established the National Institute of Textile Engineering and Research (NITER) in partnership with the Ministry of Textiles and Jute. [5]

Activities

It is the national trade body representing the country's yarn, yarn manufacturers and textile product processor mills under the private sector.

Bangladesh Nationalist Party Centre-right political party in Bangladesh

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party is a center-right nationalist political party in Bangladesh and one of the major political parties of Bangladesh. It was founded on 1 September 1978 by former Bangladeshi President Ziaur Rahman after the Presidential election of 1978, with a view of uniting the people with a nationalist ideology for country. Supreme Court of Bangladesh

The Supreme Court of Bangladesh is the highest court of law in Bangladesh. It is composed of the High Court Division and the Appellate Division, and was created by Part VI Chapter I of the Constitution of Bangladesh adopted in 1972. This is also the office of the Chief Justice, Appellate Division Justices, and High Court Division Justices of Bangladesh. As of June 2021, there are 6 Justices in Appellate Division and 92 in High Court Division.

The High Court Division popularly identified as 'High Court' is one of the two wings of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, the other wing being the Appellate Division. It consists of the Chief Justice of Bangladesh and the Judges of the High Court Division.

1971 killing of Bengali intellectuals

Bengali intellectuals killing in 1971, the Pakistan Army and their local collaborators, most notably the extreme right wing Islamist militia group Al-Badr, engaged in the systematic execution of Bengali pro-liberation intellectuals during the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971, a war crime. Intellectuals were killed throughout the entire duration of the war. The largest number of executions took place on 25 March and 14 December 1971, as it became apparent that Bangladesh would become independent. 14 December is commemorated in Bangladesh as Martyred Intellectuals Day.

National Sports Awards are given by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Government of Bangladesh for specific contributions in the field of games and sports. The award was introduced in 1976. As of 2011, total 175 sports personalities won the award.

Bangladesh Academy of Sciences is an academic forum for Bangladeshi scientists and technologists. Established in 1973, it aims to fulfill the role of promoting research and development of sciences in Bangladesh.
