Barbara Elizabeth Conolly, JP, NP, MP is a Cayman Islands politician from the People's Progressive Movement. [1]

Education

Conolly graduated from the University College of the Cayman Islands. [1]

Political career

She was first elected to the Parliament of the Cayman Islands representing George Town South in the 2017 Caymanian general election and was re-elected in 2021. [2]

In 2019, Conolly was elected deputy speaker. [3] In 2021, she stood again for speaker and deputy speaker but was not selected. [4]

In Parliament she is a member of the Public Accounts Committee and also Shadow Minister for Education and Social Development on the opposition benches. [5]

Personal life

She has two children and two grandchildren. [6]

Mr Ormond Panton became the first Caymanian to win an election as Party Leader.

Juliana Yvonne O'Connor-Connolly is a Caymanian politician, former Speaker of the Parliament of the Cayman Islands and current Premier of the Cayman Islands, assuming office on 15 November 2023. She previously served as premier in 2012.

General elections were held in the Cayman Islands on 22 May 2013. The incumbent United Democratic Party (UDP) government fell on a motion of non-confidence in December 2012 and was replaced by an interim government made up of former UDP members who formed the People's National Alliance (PNA). The main competition in the election was between the People's Progressive Movement (Progressives) and the UDP, with the PNA and a new political group the Coalition for Cayman (C4C) presenting an insufficient number of candidates to win a majority government.

Donovan Ebanks, MBE, JP was a Cayman diplomat who served as the first Deputy Governor of the Cayman Islands and an acting Governor of the Cayman Islands from 2009 to 2010. He also held the title of "Chief Secretary & Head of the Civil Service". Ebanks was later Chairman of Civil Service Appeals Commission, as well as the Records Management Advisory Committee. He was the Cayman Islands' first Deputy Governor. Ebanks was the Cayman Islands' most senior civil servant at the time of his retirement in 2012. His father was politician Craddock Ebanks.

Anita Annet Among is a Ugandan accountant, lawyer and politician who is the Speaker of the 11th Parliament of Uganda since 2022. She also concurrently serves as the elected member of parliament for the Bukedea District Women Constituency, the same position she held in the 10th Parliament (2016–2021). She was in FDC party before she joined the ruling NRM where she was voted as the Deputy Speaker of the 10th Parliament. General elections were held in the Cayman Islands on 14 April 2021 to elect the 19 members of the Parliament. The elections were originally set to be held on 26 May, but Premier Alden McLaughlin asked Governor Martyn Roper to dissolve Parliament on 14 February, triggering early elections. The move was made in order to avoid a no-confidence motion against Speaker McKeeva Bush, who had received a two-month suspended jail sentence in December 2020 for assaulting a woman in February 2020.
