Massacre was founded in 1980 in New York City by guitarist Fred Frith, bassist Bill Laswell and drummer Fred Maher as an improvising and experimental rock band. They performed live for just over a year and recorded a studio album, Killing Time (1981). Frith and Laswell reformed Massacre in 1998 with drummer Charles Hayward, and released four more albums, Funny Valentine (1998), Meltdown (2001), Lonely Heart (2007) and Love Me Tender (2013). The last three albums were recorded live, the first in London, and the others at European festivals between 1999 and 2008.
Age of Chance were a British alternative rock-dance crossover band from Leeds, England active from 1983 to 1991. They were perhaps most known for their mutant metallic cover of Prince's "Kiss" which topped the UK Indie Chart in 1986, and peaked at No. 50 in the UK Singles Chart in January the following year. Despite signing for major label Virgin, and being favourites with the UK music press, they never enjoyed a major hit in the UK, although "Don't Get Mad… Get Even" reached No. 8 on the US Billboard Hot Dance/Club Play chart.
Furious George is a punk rock band on Lookout Records and later, Recess Records. Fronted by George Tabb, it also included Evan Cohen on bass guitar and Michael Harper on drums. Furious George released two full-length albums: Gets a Record in 1997, and V.M. Live in 1999, as well as a series of singles and EPs. George Tabb's band played as the character Richie's punk band in the Spike Lee film Summer of Sam, released in 1999. Dee Dee Ramone and Joey Ramone have provided guest vocals on some of the band's work. Furious George is listed in the Encyclopedia of Punk by Brian Cogan with a foreword by Penelope Spheeris. The band name is a parody to the book character, Curious George.
Rachel Carns is an American musician, composer, artist and performer living in Olympia, Washington, U.S.. Raised in small-town Wisconsin, she went on to study painting and drawing at Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York City, where she completed her B.F.A. in 1991. Carns is perhaps best known for her distinctive stand-up drumming style; she began as drummer for Kicking Giant, later collaborating with several influential bands, including The Need. She is a celebrated graphic designer, working under the name System Lux, and plays drums and percussion with experimental performance art group Cloud Eye Control.
Molly Neuman is a musician originally from the Washington, D.C. area who has performed in such influential bands as Bratmobile, The Frumpies, and the PeeChees. She was a pioneer of the early-to-mid '90s riot grrrl movement, penning the zine which coined the phrase in its title. She also co-wrote Girl Germs with Bratmobile singer Allison Wolfe while the two were students at the University of Oregon; that title later became the name of a Bratmobile song.

They specialise in Punk rock and Ska, though they also have included some Heavy metal acts. TNS produce a free Fanzine, arrange gigs in Manchester and run TNSradio, a podcast featuring music from their own and other, similar artists from around the world. They have organised showcase gigs in Leeds, Macclesfield, and Blackpool. They are sometimes referred to as TNS Records, but the correct name is TNSrecords.

Revenge of the Psychotronic Man are a fast-paced punk band with hardcore influences based in Manchester, United Kingdom, and formed in 2004. They are sometimes referred to as Revenge Of..., Revenge or RPM. The band has had music released in the UK, mainland Europe and the US and has toured the UK and mainland Europe extensively. At the start of 2018 the band announced they would be splitting up in December of that year, but would be playing dates for the remainder of the year. Their final gig was at Rebellion in their hometown of Manchester, which sold out 4 months in advance.
SIN 34 was an American hardcore punk rock band formed in 1981 in Santa Monica, California. The band was one of the first U.S. hardcore bands to feature a female frontperson, if not the first. The band's rhythm section would go on to form Painted Willie in 1984, and sign with SST Records in 1985, and embarking on a six-month national US tour with Black Flag in 1986. Reforming out of the blue in 2008, SIN 34 would once again play shows primarily in their native southern California through 2012. Longtime member and primary songwriter Phil Newman died after an apparent accident on a sail boat, February 22, 2015; the band has no plans to continue. Singer Julie Lanfeld-Keskin died April 4, 2018.
C86 is a cassette compilation released by the British music magazine NME in 1986, featuring new bands licensed from British independent record labels of the time. As a term, C86 quickly evolved into shorthand for a guitar-based musical genre characterized by jangling guitars and melodic power pop song structures, although other musical styles were represented on the tape. In its time, it became a pejorative term for its associations with so-called "shambling" and underachievement. The C86 scene is now recognized as a pivotal moment for independent music in the UK, as was recognized in the subtitle of the compilation's 2006 CD issue: CD86: 48 Tracks from the Birth of Indie Pop. 2014 saw the original compilation reissued in a 3CD expanded edition from Cherry Red Records; the 2014 box-set came with an 11,500-word book of sleevenotes by one of the tape's original curators, former NME journalist Neil Taylor.
