Barton McCallan (born 18 July 1936) is a former Ireland international rugby union player from Northern Ireland.

Born in Belfast, McCallan attended Belfast Royal Academy and was first XV captain for two seasons, while gaining Ulster Schools representative honours. [1] He went on to Queen's University and earned his first Ulster call up as a varsity player. In 1958, McCallan moved to Ballymena to work at a tobacco manufacturer and joined Ballymena RFC. [2]

McCallan was a hooker for Ireland in two 1960 Five Nations matches, against England at Twickenham and Scotland at Lansdowne Road, forming a front-row partnership with Ballymena teammate Syd Millar. [3]

Sydney Millar was a Northern Irish rugby union prop who played for Ballymena RFC and Ulster and international rugby for Ireland and the British Lions. After retiring from playing rugby he became a rugby coach and a rugby administrator. He became chairman of the Irish Rugby Union in 1995 and from 2003 until 2007 was chairman of the International Rugby Board. Former Lions captain Willie John McBride stated that Millar had given "his whole life to the game".

The 2009–10 Ulster Rugby season was Ulster's 16th season since the advent of professionalism in rugby union, and their first under director of rugby David Humphreys and head coach Brian McLaughlin.

The 1995–96 season was Ulster Rugby's first season under professionalism. Brian Bloomfield was in his second season as coach. 35-year-old Malone RFC centre Bill Harbinson, who first played for Ulster in 1986, was captain, in his final season before retirement from the game. They played six representative matches, defeating Griqualand West, New Zealand Federation U23 and New South Wales, and losing to a Côte Basque Select XV, the Combined Services and Edinburgh District.

In Ulster Rugby's fourth season since the advent of professionalism, they were champions of the Heineken Cup, and finished second in the IRFU Interprovincial Championship.

Jan Cunningham is an Irish former rugby union player, who played centre, wing and fullback for Ulster.
