Basant Kushwaha

Basant Kushwaha also known as Basant Kumar was an Indian politician and a Member of Bihar Legislative Assembly from the Harlakhi Assembly constituency, Madhubani. He was a leader of Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP). [1] [2] Kushwaha contested and won the assembly elections in 2015, as a candidate of RLSP, but before taking oath as the member of assembly, he died due to a cardiac attack. In the by-polls conducted after one year, in 2016, his son, Sudhansu Shekhar won the constituency for the first time. [3] [4] [5]

Aklu Ram Mahto was an Indian politician from Jharkhand, who served as Minister for Finance and Institution in undivided Bihar. He was a member of Rashtriya Janata Dal, having served as important functionary in several other political parties in past. He was a member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly via Bokaro constituency. He won the Bihar Assembly Election in 1995 securing 99,798 votes. Mahto won Vidhan Sabha elections in the year 1980 and 1995. He had contested Lok Sabha elections from Dhanbad on four occasions while from Giridih and Hazaribagh once. Mahto was also associated with the movement, which started on the question of including Manbhum in West Bengal. Ramsewak Singh is an Indian politician and a member of the Janata Dal (United) political party. He served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) in Bihar Legislative Assembly for four consecutive terms. Singh, who represented the Hathua Assembly constituency, became a minister for the first time in the Nitish government in 2019. Prior to this, he had held the post of Chief Whip of the ruling JD(U) for two terms. He is a resident of Asnand Tola village of Uchkagaon block. Before becoming an MLA, he was also the head of Balesra Panchayat. After winning the election of Mukhiya, he became an MLA for the first time from Hathua Assembly under the symbol of Nitish Kumar's JD(U). Sunil Kumar also called Sunil Kushwaha is a former Member of Bihar Legislative Assembly from Sitamarhi Assembly constituency. He was elected to Bihar Assembly from this constituency in 2015 Bihar Assembly elections, as a candidate of Rashtriya Janata Dal. In this election, he defeated the second runner-up, Sunil Kumar Pintu of Bhartiya Janata Party. In the 2015 elections, Kumar secured 81,557 votes, and the margin of his victory was nine percent votes more than his opponent. In 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, Kumar was pitted against Mithilesh Kumar of Bhartiya Janata Party; latter was able to defeat him with a margin of 11,475 votes. It was believed by the poll strategists that Kumar will get the votes from Other Backward Class and Muslims, while his opponent would be supported by Forward Castes. However, in the final counting of votes, Kumar was defeated.

Surendra Prasad Singh also known as Surendra Singh Kushwaha is an Indian politician and former member of Bihar Legislative Assembly from Amarpur Assembly constituency in Banka district of Bihar. Singh has served as the member of Bihar Legislative Assembly for three terms. He won four elections from Amarpur constituency from 1995 to 2010, as a candidate of Rashtriya Janata Dal. He was defeated in 2010 assembly elections by Janardan Manjhi, which caused an end to his career as active politician.

Dev Dyal Kushwaha was an Indian politician, who served as first agriculture minister for the state of Jharkhand, after its formation. He was appointed as Minister for Agriculture in first Jharkhand government, which was led by Babu Lal Marandi. Kushwaha was a leader of Bhartiya Janata Party, who represented Hazaribagh Sadar Assembly constituency as Member of Legislative Assembly for three times. Before joining active politics he was associated with pedagogy. Kushwaha won the assembly elections of 1990, 1995 and 2000 from Hazaribagh Assembly constituency. Besides, Babu Lal Marandi's cabinet, he also served as a minister in Arjun Munda's cabinet. In 2005 Jharkhand Assembly elections, he was defeated by Saurabh Narain Singh— the grandson of Kamakhya Narain Singh.

Gayatri Devi Yadav was an Indian politician who was elected as a member of Bihar Legislative Assembly from Gobindpur constituency as well as Nawada constituency in several times from 1970 to 2005 from different parties.She entered in politics after her husband death, Son and daughter-in-law Purnima Yadav also elected as members of Bihar Legislative Assembly from Gobindpur constituency.

Sudhanshu Shekhar is an Indian politician based in Bihar, who has served as member of Bihar Legislative Assembly for two terms. Shekhar was elected to Bihar Legislative Assembly first in the year 2016, in a bypoll conducted for the Harlakhi Assembly constituency in Madhubani district of Bihar. In this bypoll, which followed the death of incumbent legislator from Harlakhi constituency, Basant Kushwaha, he defeated Mohammad Shabbir of Indian National Congress. This was followed by his second victory in 2020 Bihar Legislative Assembly elections, in which he retained this seat. Shekhar is the son of Rashtriya Lok Samata Party politician Basant Kushwaha.
