Basil Chandran Jayawardene (born 29 December 1963) is a former Sri Lankan-born international cricketer who represented the United Arab Emirates national team at the 1997 ICC Trophy. He was born in Sri Lanka,and played first-class cricket there for the Moors Sports Club.
Jayawardene was born in Colombo. [1] An all-rounder,he made his first-class debut in May 1989,playing for the Moors Sports Club in a Lakspray Trophy game against the Moratuwa Sports Club. [2] Jayawardene's best performance in his debut season was an innings of 53 not out against the Colombo Cricket Club. [3] He made no top-flight appearances during the 1989–90 season,but the following season made several appearances for Moors,in both the three-day Saravanamuttu Trophy and the limited-overs Hatna Trophy. While a resident of the UAE in the mid-1990s,Jayawardene began playing club cricket. After meeting the residency qualifications,he was selected in the UAE's squad for the 1997 ICC Trophy in Malaysia,as one of several players with first-class experience in other countries. [5] At the tournament,however,he played in only one game,against Argentina,in which he did not bat and failed to take a wicket opening the bowling with Ahmed Nadeem. [6] After returning to Sri Lanka,Jayawardene took up coaching,and had several stints with local teams. In September 2010,he returned to the Middle East,having been appointed coach of the Kuwait national team. He oversaw Kuwait's promotion from 2010 World Cricket League Division Eight to 2010 Division Seven to 2011 Division Six,and was also in charge for the 2011 ACC Twenty20 Cup. [7]

At retirement,he was the second-highest run-scorer in ODI cricket,next only to Sachin Tendulkar,and the sixth-highest run scorer in Test cricket.
Herath Mudiyanselage Rangana Keerthi Bandara Herath,known as Rangana Herath,is a former Sri Lankan cricketer,who played all forms of the game and a former Test captain for Sri Lanka. Herath is the most successful left arm bowler in Test cricket history. He is currently working as spin bowling consultant with the Bangladesh cricket team.
Denagamage Praboth Mahela de Silva Jayawardene is a former Sri Lankan cricketer who is the current consultant coach of the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team and the Head Coach of the Indian Premier League franchise Mumbai Indians. He is the most successful captain for Sri Lanka along with Sanath Jayasuriya. During the time of his captaincy,he was known mainly for his tactical acumen for decades and was rewarded for his captaincy instincts.

The Major League Tournament is the main domestic first-class cricket competition in Sri Lanka. It was established in 1938 and has existed under a number of different names. Matches before the 1988–89 season are not considered first-class. Relaunched as the Lakspray Trophy in 1988–89,it was renamed as the P. Saravanamuttu Trophy in 1990–91 and as the Premier Championship in 1998–99. There was a change of format in 2015–16 when it became the Premier League Tournament which was split into Tiers A and B the following year.
The ACC Twenty20 Cup was a 20-over cricket tournament organised by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). The tournament did not include the ACC members who were full members of the International Cricket Council (ICC) during the years in which it was held,instead featuring the best associate and affiliate members. Earlier in his career he played first-class and List A cricket for Sebastianites Cricket and Athletic Club in his native Sri Lanka.

A left-handed batsman and wicket keeper,and very occasional right-arm medium-fast bowler,Silva played club cricket for the local Police Sports Club and particularly Singha Sports Club. He has scored over 3,200 first class runs,but has not yet scored higher than 95,and has also played a handful of one day games,including matches against Scotland.

He has represented the UAE at One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International level. Originally scheduled to take place in February 2023,it was moved back to March 2022 due to fixtures impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic being rearranged.
