Basketball at the 1969 South Pacific Games was played at Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea in August 1969. Men's and women's tournaments were held with eight and six teams, respectively, competing.

Contents

After a round robin stage the teams in the top two positions played off for the gold and silver medals, and the teams in the third and fourth positions played off for the bronze medal.

Port Moresby, also referred to as Pom City or simply Moresby, is the capital and largest city of Papua New Guinea. It is one of the largest cities in the southwestern Pacific outside of Australia and New Zealand. The 15th Pacific Games, also known as Port Moresby 2015 or POM 2015, was held in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, from 4 to 18 July 2015. It was the fifteenth staging of the Pacific Games as well as the third to be hosted in Port Moresby.

The 1969 South Pacific Games was the third games where football was played. The tournament was held at Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea during August 1969. In the final, New Caledonia scored in the 88th minute to defeat Tahiti 2–1 and claim the gold medal.

A cricket tournament at the Pacific Games, previously the South Pacific Games, was introduced in 1979 and was played intermittently at games in the 1980s and 1990s, depending on the facilities of the host nation. It was played continuously from 2003 to 2019, but was not included for the 2023 Pacific Games in Solomon Islands. Detailed records of the tournaments prior to 2003 have not been kept and little is known with certainty of the first three tournaments, beyond knowing what teams won the gold and silver medals at each Games.

The 2016 OFC Nations Cup was the tenth edition of the OFC Nations Cup, the quadrennial international men's football championship of Oceania organised by the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC). The tournament was played between 28 May and 11 June 2016 in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. The winner qualified for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia.

Rugby union at the 1963 South Pacific Games was played as a double round-robin with 3 men's teams competing. No finals were played and a complete set of gold, silver and bronze medals were awarded to the teams as per their finishing positions. Fiji was unbeaten in the tournament and were presented with their gold medals by the Governor of Fiji.

Rugby union at the 1966 South Pacific Games was played as a round-robin tournament with 4 men's teams competing. No finals were played and the teams finishing in the top three positions were awarded medals. Papua New Guinea, captained by Peter Emery, won the gold medal and were unbeaten in the tournament.

Cricket at the 2015 Pacific Games in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, was held from 6–18 July 2015. A women's tournament was held for the first time, and Samoa won the event to become the first country other than Papua New Guinea to win a gold medal in Pacific Games cricket. In the men's tournament, Vanuatu won the gold medal. The shorter Twenty20 form of the game was used for both the men's and women's competitions.

The Women's rugby sevens tournament at the 2015 Pacific Games was held in Port Moresby from 8 to 10 July 2015 at the Sir John Guise Stadium. Fiji won the gold medal defeating Australia by 12–10 in the final. Hosts PNG took the bronze medal defeating New Caledonia 15–0.

The Men's rugby sevens tournament at the 2015 Pacific Games was held in Port Moresby from 8 to 10 July 2015 at the Sir John Guise Outdoor Stadium. Fiji won the gold medal defeating Samoa by 33–7 in the final. Tonga took the bronze medal defeating hosts PNG 19–12 in the third place match.

Golf has been contested at the Pacific Games since 1969 when the sport was included as one of fifteen sports at the Third South Pacific Games held in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. It is a core sport on the Pacific Games program.
