Basri & Salma in a Never-Ending Comedy (Indonesian : Basri & Salma dalam Komedi yang Terus Berputar) is a 2023 short film directed, written, and edited by Khozy Rizal. It stars Arham Rizki Saputra and Rezky Chiki as the titular roles.

It had its world premiere at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, being the first Indonesian short film to compete for the Short Film Palme d'Or.

Premise

Basri and Salma have been married for five years and feel pressured by those around them to have children, despite their busy lives with their odong-odong (kiddie ride). [1]

Release

Basri & Salma in a Never-Ending Comedy had its world premiere at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival on 26 May 2023, being the first Indonesian short film to compete for the Short Film Palme d'Or. [2] The film had been featured in a number of international film festivals, including Sundance Film Festival, [3] Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, [4] and Busan International Film Festival. [5]

I Am Afraid to Forget Your Face is a short drama film, directed by Sameh Alaa and released in 2020. Khozy Rizal is an Indonesian filmmaker. He made his directorial debut with short film Makassar Is a City for Football Fans in 2021, which received Special Jury Prize at the 2021 Indonesian Film Festival. His 2023 short film Basri & Salma in a Never-Ending Comedy became the first Indonesian short film to compete for the Short Film Palme d'Or.
