Sales figures at Beane's apparel department have been down for months, not coincidentally from the point Franklin Beane took over as department head. His uncle has warned him he must shape up or be shipped out.
Franklin has two plans up his sleeve - one includes the introduction of a young new sales assistant, Miss Brahms. Her youthful appearance and up-to-date fashions have drawn the jealous ire of her superior, Mrs Slocombe.
The younger Mr Beane's other idea involves a week-long promotion of imported German goods, including a festival-like atmosphere in which all the staff, even supervisor Mr Peacock, must dress in "authentic" German outfits and perform a slap-and-tickle dance.

Sliders is an American science fiction and fantasy television series created by Robert K. Weiss and Tracy Tormé. It was broadcast for five seasons between 1995 and 2000. The series follows a group of travelers as they use a wormhole to "slide" between different parallel universes. Tormé, Weiss, Leslie Belzberg, John Landis, David Peckinpah, Bill Dial and Alan Barnette served as executive producers at different times of the production. For its first two seasons it was produced in Vancouver, British Columbia. It was filmed primarily in Los Angeles, California in the last three seasons.

John Benedict Hillerman was an American actor best known for his starring role as Jonathan Quayle Higgins III on the television series Magnum, P.I. that aired from 1980 to 1988. For his role as Higgins, Hillerman earned five Golden Globe nominations, winning in 1981, and four Emmy nominations, winning in 1987. He retired from acting in 1999.

Are You Being Served? is an Australian sitcom that is based on the British sitcom of the same name; it was produced by Network Ten. A total of 16 episodes were produced in two series, which aired in 1980 and 1981. The draw-card was the presence of actor John Inman reprising his role of Mr. Humphries from the original series. The other characters were all directly based on the regular characters in the show's original British version, but were all given new names. Hence there were no other returning original actors.
