Beatriz Seigner is a Brazilian film director and screenwriter. [1]

Seigner was born in San Paolo. Her first films were shorts Uma Menina Como Outras Mil (2001), Roda Real (2004), and Índias (2005). [2]

Her debut feature Bollywood Dream (2010) became the first ever Indian-Brazilian film co-production. It was screened at numerous international film festivals and well received at the São Paulo Film Festival. [3] [4] [5]

Her second feature, Los silencios , premiered in the Directors’ Fortnight of the Cannes Film Festival [6] and received favourable reviews. [1] The film won the Stockholm Film Festival's Impact Award, the Audience Award at FESCAAL 2019, etc. [7] [3] At the 20th Havana Film Festival New York, protagonist Marleyda Soto was awarded the Havana Star Prize for Best Actress for her role in the film. [8]

Her next project was a documentary titled Between Us, A Secret (2020) about the Djelis of Mali. [9] [7]

She co-wrote the screenplay for Walter Salles's new film La contadora de películas [10] and was the jury member of the FESCAAL 2021. [11]

At the Series Mania 2023 her upcoming project Amigas won the third prize and a development grant of the Seriesmakers section. [1]

Jeannette: The Childhood of Joan of Arc is a 2017 French musical film directed by Bruno Dumont. It was screened in the Directors’ Fortnight section at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. It was followed two years later by the non-musical sequel Joan of Arc, which premiered at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, written and directed by Dumont and with Lise Leplat Prudhomme reprising her role. The script is an adaptation of the play The Mystery of the Charity of Joan of Arc, written in 1910 by the Catholic author Charles Péguy.

Juliana Rojas is a Brazilian filmmaker who was born in Campinas, São Paulo. She graduated in Cinema in Escola de Comunicação e Artes da USP where she met fellow Brazilian filmmaker Marco Dutra. This was the beginning of a long partnership between them. In 2004, while still in school, they codirected a short film called Lenço Branco. Their short film was part of a section of the Cannes Film Festival that is dedicated to university films, Cinéfondation. Three years later, in 2007, Um Ramo, another short film directed by Rojas and Dutra, would be nominated to Semaine de la Critique of Cannes Film Festival. In 2011, her first feature film would be premiered in the Festival, in the "Un Certain Regard" section. Her film, Good Manners was nominated in 2017 at the Locarno Film Festival. She has also worked as an editor.

<i>The Orphanage</i> (2019 film) 2019 film

The Orphanage is a 2019 Danish-Afghan drama film directed by Shahrbanoo Sadat. It was screened in the Directors' Fortnight section at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival. It is the second installment in a planned pentalogy based on the unpublished diaries of Anwar Hashimi, who plays a supporting character in the film. Its prequel, Wolf and Sheep, came out in 2016. It has been nominated for best film at several different film festivals, winning at an international festival. They won the Best Film award at the Reykjavik International Film Festival in 2019.
