All three members of the band are related. Domenic and Reuben are brothers. Jacob is their younger half-brother (maternal). This relationship is often confused and misconstrued in media stories and interviews.[6]
History

Because of Ghosts formed in 2002 when half brothers Jacob Pearce and Reuben Stanton began experimenting with looped guitars, casio toys, found tapes, field recordings and various percussion instruments. Jacob and Reuben independently recorded and released "No More Reason, No More Doubt" and "Because of Ghosts EP" in late 2002 / early 2003.
Domenic Stanton (bass, glockenspiel, wineglasses) joined the band shortly after. The band recorded a split EP with friends Adlerseri, brothers Reuben, Domenic and Jacob independently recorded and released a mini album, Make Amends With Your Adversary Before Dawn. This record gained an international release with Japanese label Wonderground Music.
In 2004, the band released an EP entitled Your House Is Built On A Frozen Lake. This EP widened their fan base nationally through CD sales, national airplay, and interstate tours.
In October 2004, the because of ghosts live 12" with an etching on side b was released on Art School Dropout Records, consisting of four tracks recorded live at the Hopetoun in Sydney.
Notable events from 2005 include Because of Ghosts supporting U.S. group Tortoise in Melbourne and a successful tour of Tokyo.[7] The band also signed a three-album publishing contract with Mushroom Music Publishing.[8]
In February 2006, the band released No More Reason, No More Doubt - Selected Recordings 2002 - 2004 on Art School Dropout Records. This release consists of 11 recordings from the band's early history, through to live recordings and EP tracks.
Because of Ghosts’ debut album proper, The Tomorrow We Were Promised Yesterday, was released in Australia and New Zealand in October 2006 on Feral Media. The album is a culmination of many months of both precise and raw production. The band completed their first national tour of Australia in support of the album in late 2006.
In July 2007, Because of Ghosts played shows across Canada. A limited Canadian Tour EP was available at the band's final Australian shows and across Canada. Each EP featured unique hand drawn cover art. After the tour, the band recorded a new album at the Hotel2Tango in Montreal with producer Howard Bilerman.
The album, "This Culture Of Background Noise" was released in Australia in September 2008.[9]
Domenic and Jacob contributed to the debut album At Long Last from Melbourne band Princess One Point Five. The two also appear on the second Princess One Point Five album The Truth, which was released in May 2006. Jacob is featured on drums for the title track "The Truth" and "Oh So Cold".
Domenic and Jacob contributed to the debut self-titled album by The Steadfast Shepherd.
Jacob played drums on the Alex Jarvis album The New Patriotism. He also appeared on the Mount Eerie "Mount Eerie Dances With Wolves 12", recorded live to acetate in Melbourne, 2005.
Domenic plays bass for Melbourne grunge-rock group Needleburner and on occasion for Melbourne gothic-folk artist Wayward Breed

Hunters & Collectors are an Australian rock band formed in 1981. Fronted by founding mainstay, singer-songwriter and guitarist Mark Seymour, they developed a blend of pub rock and art-funk. Other mainstays are John Archer on bass guitar, Doug Falconer on drums and percussion. Soon after forming they were joined by Jack Howard on trumpet and keyboards, Jeremy Smith on French horn, guitars and keyboards, and Michael Waters on trombone and keyboards. Also acknowledged as a founder was engineer and art designer Robert Miles. Joining in 1988, Barry Palmer, on lead guitar, remained until they disbanded in 1998. The group reformed in 2013 with the 1998 line-up.

Reuben were an English three-piece musical group from Camberley, Surrey. Their music is a fusion of alternative rock and heavy metal, as their songs cover a variety of styles, ranging from heavy and upbeat, such as their 2005 single "Blamethrower" to slower, more melodic songs such as their 2004 single "Moving to Blackwater". The former style of song often featured vocalist Jamie Lenman switching between shouting and whispering, a technique often used in heavy metal and post-hardcore music. The band performed in the UK underground music scene. Although they attracted a significant fanbase, Reuben never achieved mainstream success, but did chart four songs in the UK Singles Chart. Their highest charting single was 2004's "Freddy Kreuger", that reached UK No. 53.
Michael Sheridan is an Australian guitarist. Having played and recorded with an array of artists his versatility in original music spans the styles of rock, jazz/punk, industrial, metal, and sonic art including glitch & noise. He has released solo works such as Scaleshack,Digital Jamming and collaborations with Nicholas Littlemore and associates. He has been a member of several bands since 1975 including No (1987–1989) with Ollie Olsen and Marie Hoy, which were described as "One of Australias most compelling stage acts incorporating speed metal, hip hop and electro funk". Your Demise were a British hardcore punk band from St Albans, England, formed in 2003. They shared stages and toured worldwide with the likes of Comeback Kid, Basement, Trapped Under Ice, Man Overboard, Enter Shikari, Parkway Drive, A Day to Remember and Bring Me the Horizon. On 22 September 2008, the band confirmed that they had signed a deal with Visible Noise. The band played their final gig at The London Underworld on 15 March 2014, after announcing in 2013 that they would be parting ways in March. They reunited for a one off benefit show for The Ghost Inside in 2015. They reunited again for the anniversary of The Kids We Used to Be but the shows were postponed due to the COVID-19 situation.
The Amity Affliction is an Australian metalcore band from Gympie, Queensland, formed in 2003. The band's current line-up consists of Ahren Stringer, Joel Birch, Dan Brown (guitar) and Joe Longobardi (drums). The Amity Affliction has released seven studio albums including Severed Ties (2008), Youngbloods (2010), Chasing Ghosts (2012), Let the Ocean Take Me (2014), This Could Be Heartbreak (2016) and Misery (2018), the latter four debuting at number one on the ARIA charts.
