Rebecca "Becky" Owen (born 16 August 1986) is a retired British artistic gymnast. She represented England at the 2002 Commonwealth Games where she won a silver medal in the team event and on the floor exercise.
She competed at the 2002 European Championships alongside Beth Tweddle and Katy Lennon, and they finished sixth in the team competition. Individually, Owen finished tenth in the all-around final with a total score of 35.198. [1] At that time, this tenth-place finish tied her for the best finish in a European all-around final. [2]
Owen competed at the 2002 Commonwealth Games with Beth Tweddle, Katy Lennon, Lizzy Line, and Nicola Willis. She was the youngest member of the team. [2] The English team won the silver medal behind Australia. [3] Individually, Owen finished seventh in the all-around final with a total score of 34.900. [4] She finished sixth in both the uneven bars final and the balance beam final. [5] In the floor exercise final, Owen scored a 9.237 and won the silver medal beind Sarah Lauren from Australia. [6]
In 2003, Owen pulled out of the qualifying competitions leading up to the 2004 Olympic Games due to injuries, and she then retired from gymnastics. [7]
Owen suffered from her first back fracture when she was eleven years old while performing a whip salto. [7] Owen sued her coaches, Christine and Colin Still, in 2010, claiming that she was forced to continue training through her various back injuries, and that these injuries have left her unable to sit or stand for more than a few minutes, and she is unable to carry a baby. [7]
Elizabeth Kimberly Tweddle is a retired British artistic gymnast. Renowned for her uneven bar and floor routines, she was the first female gymnast from Great Britain to win a medal at the European Championships, World Championships, and Olympic Games. Tweddle, known for her consistency and longevity as an elite gymnast, is regarded as a pioneer of the renaissance of British gymnastics at the beginning of the twenty-first century that saw the country's gymnastics programme progress from 'also ran' to consistent global competitiveness.
Lisa Elena Jane Mason is a British gymnast who has competed for her country at the Commonwealth Games, European championships, World championships and the Olympic Games. She was the vault champion at the 1998 Commonwealth Games, and was part of the first Great Britain women's artistic gymnastic team to qualify for the team event at the Olympic Games.
Imogen Jayne Cairns is a British former artistic gymnast who competed at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics. Representing England, Cairns was a three-time Commonwealth Games champion in vault, twice, and in floor exercise.
Chloe Leigh Gilliland is an Australian gymnast. She finished first all-around at the 2005 Australian junior championships, and first all-around at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. She was a member of Australia's 11th-place team at the 2007 World Championships in Stuttgart, where the team qualified for the 2008 Olympic Games by virtue of its top-12 finish. Sims subsequently withdrew from the Australian national team and did not try out for a spot on Australia's Olympic team.
Rebecca "Becky" Downie is a British artistic gymnast who competed at the 2008 and 2016 Summer Olympics. She is a double European champion and 2014 Commonwealth Games champion on the uneven bars as well as the 2019 World silver medallist.
Lauren Stephanie Mitchell is an Australian former artistic gymnast. She is the 2010 World champion on the floor exercise and the 2009 World Championships silver medalist on the balance beam and floor exercise. Mitchell is only the second Australian female gymnast to win a medal at the World Championships, and she is the first to win a gold medal. She is the 2010 Commonwealth Games champion in the all-around, uneven bars, and balance beam, and with the Australian team, and she is the 2008 World Cup Final balance beam champion. She also represented Australia at the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games.
Ashleigh Jade Brennan is an Australian former gymnast who was on the Australia Gymnastics Artistic Women's National Team. She participated in the 2008 Summer Olympics, finishing sixth in the team event. She won a pair of team gold medals in the Commonwealth Games at the 2006 and 2010 Games. She won a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in 2006 and a bronze in 2010. She was selected to represent Australia at the 2012 Summer Olympics. She is also the sister of star Berwick footballer, Tom Brennan.
Neil Roderick Thomas MBE is a retired English artistic gymnast who experienced most of his success in the floor exercises. An acknowledged inspiration to the golden generation of British gymnasts from 2004 onwards, and a pathfinder for his national programme, he was former world silver medalist and Commonwealth Games Champion and one of the most successful British gymnasts in the history of the sport.
Ksenia Andreyevna Semyonova is a retired Russian artistic gymnast. She is the 2007 world champion on the uneven bars, the 2008 European champion on the uneven bars and the balance beam, and the 2009 European all-around champion. She also won a gold medal with the Russian team at the 2010 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. She represented Russia at the 2008 Summer Olympics where she finished fourth in the team competition, fourth in the all-around, and sixth in the uneven bars final.
Elsabeth Ann "Ellie" Black is a Canadian artistic gymnast. She is a three-time Olympian, having represented her country at the 2012, 2016, and 2020 Olympic Games. She is the 2017 World all-around silver medalist, making her the first Canadian gymnast to win a world all-around medal, and she led the Canadian women's gymnastics team to a bronze medal in the 2022 World Championships team final, the first world team medal won by a Canadian gymnastics team. She won a silver medal on the balance beam at the 2022 World Championships. She is also the 2018 Commonwealth Games all-around champion, a two-time Pan American Games all-around champion, and a six-time Canadian national all-around champion. At the 2020 Olympic Games, Black placed fourth in the balance beam final, the highest placement in the Olympics for a female Canadian gymnast.
Emily Little is an Australian artistic gymnast. She won a gold medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in the team women's artistic gymnastic events. She was chosen to represent Australia at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
Gabrielle 'Gabby' Jupp is a British former artistic gymnast. A successful junior gymnast, she was part of the Great Britain senior team that won silver in the team event at the 2016 European Women's Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Bern. A series of serious knee injuries curtailed her elite level career, and she announced her retirement in 2019, aged 22.
Claudia Fragapane is a British artistic gymnast. She came to prominence at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, where she was the first English woman to win four gold medals in a single Games since 1930. In 2015, Fragapane was part of the women's gymnastics team that won Great Britain's first-ever team medal, a bronze, at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, before winning an individual world championship bronze on floor two years later.
Elissa Rebecca "Ellie" Downie is a retired artistic gymnast who has represented Great Britain. She is the all-around 2017 European gymnastics champion, the first gymnast to win a major all-around title for Great Britain.
Kelly Jay Simm is an English artistic gymnast. She is the 2015 Summer Universiade all-around champion, vault silver medalist, and floor bronze medalist. She represented England at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and won a gold medal in the team final. She competed at the 2015 World Championships and she won the bronze medal with the team.

Alice Nicole Kinsella is an Irish-English artistic gymnast and member of the British national gymnastics team. She represented Great Britain at the 2020 Summer Olympics and won a bronze medal in the team event, and was part of the Great Britain team that achieved a highest ever silver medal position in the same event at the 2022 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. Individually, she is the 2018 Commonwealth Games and 2019 European champion on the balance beam, and the 2022 Commonwealth Games champion on floor. Kinsella won a third Commonwealth Games title as part of England's gold-winning team all-around squad of 2022.
Georgia-Mae Fenton is an English artistic gymnast and a member of both the British national gymnastics team and the England Commonwealth Games gymnastics squad. She is the 2018 and 2022 Commonwealth champion on uneven bars, and a member of the gold-medal winning England team in 2022. With Great Britain, she was part of the team that won silver at both the 2022 European Women's Artistic Gymnastics Championships and 2022 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.
Jessica Gadirova is an English artistic gymnast of Irish birth and Azerbaijani descent, representing Great Britain internationally. She represented Great Britain at the 2020 Summer Olympics and won a bronze medal in the team event and was part of the silver medal-winning team at the 2022 World Championships. Individually she is the 2022 World Champion on floor exercise as well as a two-time European champion on the event. Additionally she is the 2022 World and 2021 European all-around bronze medalist and the 2021 European vault silver medalist.
Raegan Rutty is a Caymanian artistic gymnast. She has represented the Cayman Islands at the 2020 Olympic Games, the 2018 Commonwealth Games, the 2019 Pan American Games, and the 2018 and 2019 World Championships. She was the Cayman Islands' first ever Olympic gymnast.
