Benjamin Aribisala (born 15 August 1972) is a Nigerian academic. He is a professor of Computer Science and the current Vice-Chancellor of Oduduwa University since January 2021. [1] [2] [3]
He was born in Ikoyi,Ikole local government area,on 15 August 1972. [1] He had his primary and secondary school education in Ikole Ekiti. [1] For University education,he attended Ekiti State University [1] where he obtained a bachelor's degree in Mathematics in 1994. [1] He obtained a master's degree in Computer Science from Federal University of Technology,Akure in 1999. [1] He obtained a PhD degree in Computer Science from the University of Birmingham,UK in 2006. [1] [4]
Ekiti State is a state in southwestern Nigeria,bordered to the north by Kwara State,to the northeast by Kogi State,to the south and southeast by Ondo State,and to the west by Osun State. Named for the Ekiti people—the Yoruba subgroup that make up the majority of the state's population—Ekiti State was formed from a part of Ondo State in 1996 and has its capital as the city of Ado-Ekiti.
The University of Lagos,popularly known as UNILAG,is a public research university located in Lagos,Nigeria and was founded in 1962. Lagos State University,also known as LASU,is located in Ojo,a town in Lagos State,Nigeria. The university was established in 1983 by the enabling law of Lagos State,for the advancement of learning and establishment of academic excellence;its motto being For Truth and Service. The university caters for over 35,000 students. The University was established during the Administration of Late Lateef Kayode Jakande. The university offers diploma,degree and post graduate programmes,including an MBA programme. LASU was ranked among the top 600 universities in the world by in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for 2020. On 23 June,2021 LASU emerged as the best young university in Nigeria having been below the age of 50 years to be added. Times Higher Education ranked the Lagos State University as the second best university in Nigeria on the 2 September 2020,and was the only state university included in the rankings for 2022. The university has attracted international funding,including for the establishment of a World Bank Group Africa Centre for Excellence on Science,Technology,Engineering and Mathematics.
Ekiti State University Ado Ekiti was established as Obafemi Awolowo University,Ado-Ekiti on 30 March 1982 by the administration of Chief Michael Adekunle Ajasin,the first civilian governor of Ondo State. The university is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities. It is located about 12 minutes drive from the center of the city of Ado-Ekiti,Ekiti State in Western Nigeria.
Jacob Festus Adeniyi Ajayi,commonly known as J. F. Ade Ajayi,was a Nigerian historian and a member of the Ibadan school,a group of scholars interested in introducing African perspectives to African history and focusing on the internal historical forces that shaped African lives. Ade Ajayi favours the use of historical continuity more often than focusing on events only as powerful agents of change that can move the basic foundations of cultures and mould them into new ones. Instead,he sees many critical events in African life,sometimes as weathering episodes which still leave some parts of the core of Africans intact. Isaac Folorunso AdewoleFAS is a Nigerian professor of gynaecology and obstetrics. He was the former Nigerian minister of health from November 2015 - May 2019 Cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari. He is a former vice-chancellor of the University of Ibadan and president of the African Organisation for Research and Training in Cancer. Prior to his appointment as the 11th substantive vice-chancellor of the university,he served as provost at the College of Medicine,University of Ibadan,the largest and oldest medical school in Nigeria. His research interest is in the area of human papillomavirus,HIV,and gynaecologic oncology,a specialised field of medicine that focuses on cancers of the female reproductive system,including ovarian cancer,uterine cancer,vaginal cancer,cervical cancer,and vulvar cancer. Adewole is a member of the governing council of Adeleke University and chairs the National Panel on Cervical Cancer Control Policy. He is the only Nigerian professor appointed as member of the Council of the Association of Commonwealth Universities. He was appointed to serve as a member of the international advisory board of the African Cancer Institute,a comprehensive cancer centre in sub-Saharan black Africa.
Olanrewaju Adigun Fagbohun is a Nigerian lawyer,academic,author,investor,professor of environmental law and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria. He served as the 8th substantive vice-chancellor of Lagos State University between 11 January 2016 to 10 January 2021. His administration as LASU's vice chancellor witnessed tremendous gains in research,innovations and infrastructural development –which helped to propel the university from obscurity to the second best university in Nigeria according to the 2021 Times Higher Education ranking. He was appointed by the governor of Lagos State,Akinwunmi Ambode to succeed professor John Obafunwa,a Nigerian pathologist whose tenure ended on 31 October 2015. His appointment was lauded by the Lagos State University chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities. The association through the chapter chairman pledge their full support for good administration.
The Ekiti people are one of the largest historical subgroups of the larger Yoruba people of West Africa,located in Nigeria. They are classified as a Central Yoruba group,alongside the Ijesha,Igbomina,Yagba and Ifes. Ekiti State is populated exclusively by Ekiti people;however,it is but a segment of the historic territorial domain of Ekiti-speaking groups,which historically included towns in Ondo State such as Akure,Ilara-Mokin,Ijare,and Igbara-oke. Ogbagi,Irun,Ese,Oyin,Igasi,Afin and Eriti in the Akoko region,as well as some towns in Kwara State,are also culturally Ekiti,although belong in other states today.
