Tochmarc Étaíne, meaning "The Wooing of Étaín/Éadaoin", is an early text of the Irish Mythological Cycle, and also features characters from the Ulster Cycle and the Cycles of the Kings. It is partially preserved in the manuscript known as the Lebor na hUidre, and completely preserved in the Yellow Book of Lecan, written in language believed to date to the 8th or 9th century. It tells of the lives and loves of Étaín, a beautiful mortal woman of the Ulaid, and her involvement with Aengus and Midir of the Tuatha Dé Danann. It is frequently cited as a possible source text for the Middle English Sir Orfeo. Harvard professor Jeffrey Gantz describes the text as displaying the "poetic sense of law" in Irish legal society.

Bergin has also played with the Tipperary senior football team and was part of the panel for the 2013 McGrath Cup. Patrick Bergin was an Irish politician and trade union official. He was a Labour Party member of Seanad Éireann from 1954 to 1957. He was nominated by the Taoiseach to the 8th Seanad in 1954. He did not contest the 1957 Seanad election. He stood unsuccessfully for Dáil Éireann as a Labour Party candidate for the Carlow–Kilkenny constituency at the 1948 general election. Thomas Fleming Bergin was a civil engineer and Company Secretary of the Dublin and Kingstown Railway (D&KR), the first passenger railway of Ireland. He was actively involved in the management and engineering support of the D&KR and the later Dalkey Atmospheric Railway throughout their construction and for their operational life until 1856. A life member of the Royal Irish Academy he is also known for invention of a patented spring-loaded rail buffer.
Star was a locomotive designed by Isaac Dodds of the 2-2-0 configuration and built in 1833 at the Horsley Coal & Iron Company, Tipton, Birmingham, England. Despite rebuilds it was never a successful engine and was scrapped in 1840.
