Bergvlei Pass [1] is situated in the Mpumalanga province, on the R536 road between Sabie and Hazyview (South Africa).
The Victory Mountains is a major group of mountains in Victoria Land, Antarctica, about 100 nautical miles long and 50 nautical miles wide, which is bounded primarily by Mariner and Tucker glaciers and the Ross Sea. They are north of the Mountaineer Range, east of the Freyberg Mountains and south of the Concord Mountains and the Admiralty Mountains. The division between the Victory Mountains and the Concord Mountains is not precise but apparently lies in the vicinity of Thomson Peak.

German submarine U-301 was a Type VIIC U-boat built for the German Navy (Kriegsmarine) during World War II. The submarine was laid down on 12 February 1941 at the Flender Werke yard at Lübeck, launched on 25 March 1942, and commissioned on 9 May 1942. During her short career the U-boat sailed on three combat patrols, without sinking or damaging any ships, before she was sunk on 21 January 1943 by a British submarine in the Mediterranean Sea.

Mount Ethelred is a mainly ice-covered mountain, 2,470 metres (8,100 ft) high, 3 nautical miles (6 km) southeast of Mount Ethelwulf and 8 nautical miles (15 km) inland from George VI Sound, in the Douglas Range of Alexander Island, Antarctica. The mountain was probably first observed by Lincoln Ellsworth, who photographed the east side of the Douglas Range from the air on November 23, 1935; its east face was roughly surveyed in 1936 by the British Graham Land Expedition. It was resurveyed in 1948 by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) and named for Ethelred I, Saxon King of England, 865–871. The west face of the mountain was mapped from air photos taken by the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition, 1947–48, by D. Searle of the FIDS in 1960. Mount Ethelred is the seventh highest peak of Alexander Island, proceeded by Mount Calais.
Litz Glacier is a glacier flowing northeast from the vicinity of Smith Peak and Litz Bluff in north-central Thurston Island, Antarctica. The glacier enters the west part of Peale Inlet north of the Guy Peaks. It was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names after A.K. Litz, Chief Photographer's Mate in the Eastern Group of Operation Highjump, which obtained aerial photographs of this glacier and adjacent coastal areas, 1946–47.

On 20 May 1943, Geissler was replaced as commander by Oberleutnant zur See Werner Schwaff.
