Bezos Academy is a group of tuition-free preschools for students from low-income families, which was created by Jeff Bezos, and which operate in a manner similar to the Montessori method. [1]

Bezos himself had attended a Montessori school in Albuquerque, New Mexico, when he was two years old. [2]

Bezos first announced his plan to create the schools in September 2018. [3]

The first school opened in Des Moines, Washington on October 19, 2020. [4]

In January 2022, plans were announced to open a school in Orlando, Florida, [5] as well as one in Everett, Washington. [6]
