Kshetrimayum Bhabananda Singh is a politician belonging to the Bharatiya Janata Party from Manipur. On 25 May 2017, he won a bypoll to the Rajya Sabha by securing 39 votes against Congress candidate Dwijamani who secured 21 votes. He secured votes of BJP, NPP, NPF, LJP and TMC MLA (who has joined the BJP) and few Congress MLAs who have crossed over to the BJP. [2]

2017 Indian Rajya Sabha elections

Rajya Sabha elections were held in India on 21 July and 8 August 2017 as nomination contests by state legislators routinely for ten members of the Rajya Sabha across three states, replacing those who retired in July and August 2017. The State Legislatures which contribute in this six-year minor elections/nomination cycle are Goa, Gujarat and West Bengal. The mechanism is the single transferable vote (STV) among legislators, meaning nominations may be unopposed contests. The open ballot is used rather than secret ballot, allowing public scrutiny.

Elections in the Republic of India in 2018 included by-elections to the Lok Sabha, elections to the Rajya Sabha, elections to legislative assemblies of eight states and numerous other by-elections to state legislative assemblies, councils and local bodies.

2018 Indian Rajya Sabha elections

Rajya Sabha elections were held in 2018 to elect the 65 retiring members of the Rajya Sabha, Indian Parliament's upper chamber. There were, as routine, three such elections held among relevant State and Union Territory legislators by single transferable vote (STV) and Open Ballot: on 16 January to elect 3 members from Delhi and 1 member from Sikkim; on 23 March to elect 58 members from 16 States; and lastly on 21 June to elect 3 members from Kerala. Being even-numbered, 2018 was a year in which about 30% of the State Legislature-elected 233-seat component of the body is elected. The other 12 seats of the body are appointed by the President.

2020 Indian Rajya Sabha elections Elections for the Upper House of Indian Parliament

2020 Rajya Sabha elections is the set of indirect elections by the members of State legislatures of India, to elect new members to fill vacancies in the Rajya Sabha – the upper house of the Parliament of India. The elections are held annually and throughout the year on an ad hoc basis. The elections in 2020 are for a total of 73 seats of which 55 of them were to be elected by March 26. The remaining were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Election Commission of India later announced all the elections for the remaining 24 Rajya Sabha seats were to be held on 19 June 2020.

He was elected as a member of the Manipur Legislative Assembly from Sagolband constituency in Imphal West District from the Indian National Congress in 2012 & 2017 Manipur Legislative Assembly election.
