The politics of Nepal functions within the framework of a parliamentary republic with a multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the Prime Minister and their cabinet,while legislative power is vested in the Parliament.
The Nepali Congress is a social democratic political party in Nepal and become the largest party in the country. The party has 870,106 members as of the party's 14th general convention in December 2021,making it the largest party by membership in Nepal. In June 2023,the party started online membership since the emergence of youth leaders in vital posts to attract youths to the party. The party is led by former prime minister,Sher Bahadur Deuba since the party's thirteenth general convention in 2016. The party won 89 seats in the 2022 general election and is currently the largest parliamentary group in the House of Representatives.
The Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) (Nepali:नेपालकम्युनिष्टपार्टी(एकीकृतमार्क्सवादी-लेनिनवादी),romanized: nēpāl kamyuniṣṭpārṭī(ēkīkṛt mārksavādī-lēninavādī);abbr. CPN (UML)) is a communist political party in Nepal. The party emerged as one of the major parties in Nepal after the end of the Panchayat era.
Sher Bahadur Deuba is a Nepali politician and former prime minister of Nepal. He has also been serving as the president of the Nepali Congress since 2016. Deuba has served five terms as prime minister and is the Member of Parliament for the parliamentary constituency of Dadeldhura 1.
Rabindra Prasad Adhikari was a Nepali politician and three-time parliamentarian,belonging to the Nepal Communist Party (NCP). He was Minister of Culture,Tourism and Civil Aviation from 16 March 2018 until his death in a helicopter crash in February 2019. He was the Kaski District secretary of the party. In the 2008 Constituent Assembly election,Adhikari was elected from the Kaski-3 constituency,with 13,386 votes. In the 2013 Constituent Assembly election,he was re-elected from the Kaski-3 constituency,with 15,456 votes. In 2017,CPN-UML candidate Rabindra Adhikari won parliamentary elections from Kaski Constituency No. 2. Representing the left alliance,Adhikari secured 27,207 votes to defeat Nepali Congress candidate Dev Raj Chalise,who got 18,661 votes. After his demise,his wife Bidya Bhattarai won Kaski Constituency-2 with a wide margin of 8,403 votes in the by-election. Bhattarai secured 24,394 votes,while her nearest contender Khem Raj Poudel from the main opposition Nepali Congress got 15,991. Socialist Party's Dharma Raj Gurung got 1,922 votes. He authored the books Constituent Assembly,Democracy and Re-structuring.
The Minister of Culture,Tourism and Civil Aviation is the head of the Ministry of Culture,Tourism and Civil Aviation of the Government of Nepal. One of the senior-most officers in the Federal Cabinet,the minister is responsibility for promoting tourism,culture and private sector involvement in Nepal. The Minister is assisted by the Minister of State for Culture,Tourism and Civil Aviation and the junior Deputy Minister of Culture,Tourism and Civil Aviation.
Bidya Devi Bhandari is a Nepali former politician who served as the second president of Nepal from 2015 to 2023. She formerly served as the minister of defence and minister of environment and population.
Yogesh Bhattarai is a Nepali politician currently serving as a member of Parliament in the House of Representatives from Taplejung constituency since 2017. Bhattarai is currently in his second term as secretary of CPN-UML. He has previously also served as Minister of Culture,Tourism and Civil Aviation.
Haribol Prasad Gajurel is a Nepalese politician and a member of the Nepal House of Representatives,having been elected twice by the Sindhuli-2 constituency. He was also a member of the second constituent assembly,elected in 2013. He was also the Minister for Agricultural Development in the First Oli cabinet,but later resigned when his party,the Communist Party of Nepal,withdrew its support for the government.

A by-election was held in Kaski 2 constituency of Nepal on 30 November 2019,following the death of incumbent Rabindra Prasad Adhikari in a helicopter crash. Adhikari was a 3-term Member of Parliament from Kaski. He was the Minister of Culture,Tourism and Civil Aviation at the time of his death. The by-election was won by Bidya Bhattarai,his widow,with 54.27% of the vote. She defeated her nearest rival,Khem Raj Paudel of Nepali Congress,by 8,403 votes.
The First Federal Parliament of Nepal,consisting of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly,was elected via the 2017 legislative,provincial and local elections.
General elections were held in Nepal on 20 November 2022 to elect the 275 members of the House of Representatives. There were two ballots in the election;one to elect 165 members from single-member constituencies via FPTP,and the other to elect the remaining 110 members from a single nation-wide constituency via party-list proportional representation.
At the end of 2020,a major split in the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) revived the Communist Party of Nepal and the Communist Party of Nepal.

One of the senior-most officers in the Federal Cabinet,the minister responsible for growth and development of agriculture and livestock sector is an ex-officio member of Nepal Agricultural Research Council,Nepal Veterinary Council and National Tea and Coffee Development Board. The Minister is assisted by the Minister of State for Agriculture and Livestock Development and the junior Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Development.
