Big Muddy Records is an independent American roots music record label based out of St Louis, Missouri. Founded by Chris (Kristo) Baricevic in 2005, [1] Big Muddy Records has been a pivotal element in the development of many of St Louis' roots music acts, ranging from garage rock, punk, country, traditional jazz, blues, and folk music. [2] Big Muddy Records is distributed by Entertainment One and Amped.

Bob Reuter and his legacy

After the death of Bob Reuter in 2013, [8] Chris Baricevic and Big Muddy Records became executors of Reuter's estate, including his catalog of music and his photography. They were tasked with preserving his legacy and forming the Cowboy Angel Foundation. Big Muddy Records is working to re-issue Reuter's back catalog. [9]

Established in 1939 by Alfred Lion and Max Margulis, it derived its name from the blue notes of jazz and the blues. Donald Christopher Barber OBE was an English jazz musician, best known as a bandleader and trombonist. As well as scoring a UK top twenty trad jazz hit with "Petite Fleur" in 1959, he helped the careers of many musicians. These included the blues singer Ottilie Patterson, who was at one time his wife, and Lonnie Donegan, whose appearances with Barber triggered the skiffle craze of the mid-1950s and who had his first transatlantic hit, "Rock Island Line", while with Barber's band. Sidney Denis Preston was a British record producer, recording studio owner, radio presenter and music critic. He was particularly influential in the British jazz and associated skiffle scenes from the 1940s to the 1960s.

Fight the Big Bull is a Richmond, Virginia based improvisatory ensemble with two 2010 recordings selected for NPR's best of the year lists. The band was founded in the mid-2000s (decade) by guitarist Matthew E. White, one of the organizers of the Patchwork Collective, an arts group dedicated to creating a vital local music scene. The original configuration- called simply Fight the Bull- was a trio with drummer Pinson Chanselle and trombonist Bryan Hooten. The group was subsequently expanded to eight players The band has collaborated with Chicago saxophonist Ken Vandermark and NYC-based slide trumpeter and composer Steven Bernstein. They also collaborated with alternative folk singer David Karsten Daniels, with White providing arrangement to his critically well-received 2010 Thoreau project "I Mean to Live Here Still." A performance with Daniels at the NYC club La Poisson Rouge was reviewed by the New York Times.

The LouFest Music Festival was an annual two-day event held in Forest Park, located in St. Louis, Missouri, United States. The event featured local, regional and national acts, with an aesthetic range from funk and indie-rock to alt-country and soul. The event featured four stages with alternating performances throughout the weekend. The festival grounds included a children's stage and village, an environmentally friendly vendor area, and a food court featuring restaurants from St. Louis neighborhoods. On September 5, 2018, LouFest was canceled only days before the event was supposed to take place due to “the loss of two of the event’s top sponsors, scheduling and contract issues with major artists, and existing debt from previous events."

Muddy Roots is an American music festival held in Cookeville, Tennessee, U.S. It began in 2010 as an annualfestival at the June Bug Boogie Ranch in Cookeville, Tennessee. The music festival included camping, vendors, a car show, and a pin-up pageant. In 2012, the festival expanded to Europe at the Cowboy Up Steakhouse Saloon in Waardamme, Belgium and featured the same blend of musical styles as the festival held in Tennessee. Muddy Roots announced a third separate festival would be held in May 2013 at the Red River Canoe Campground in Adams, Tennessee, called the Muddy Roots Spring Weekender. All of the Muddy Roots music festivals featured musicians of varying genres, including country, blues, rock and roll, rockabilly, punk rock, bluegrass, and folk.

Kentucky Knife Fight was an American rock band from St. Louis, Missouri. Active since 2005, the band had been a congruent force alongside Pokey LaFarge, So Many Dynamos and Sleepy Kitty in bringing national attention to a re-emerging St. Louis music scene. Their sound is generally classified as Noir Blues, combining pre-rock elements of blues, dark-bluegrass, and jazz with punk, pop, and twang influences.

Chloe Feoranzo is a clarinetist, saxophonist, sloth enthusiast, and vocalist who has been performing professionally since the age of 15. Born in Rhode Island, she grew up playing in youth orchestras, musical pits, along with swing, dixieland bands and guest artist at festivals of the Southern California area. She made her debut at the Mission Valley music fete in 2005. As a teenage musician she studied with jazz sax legend Charles McPherson and attended the annual UC San Diego Jazz Camp. In 2007, she became the San Diego Jazz Fest & Swing Extravaganza's first youth guest artist.

Dylan Walshe Irish folk music singer-songwriter

Dylan Robert Walshe is an Irish folk music singer-songwriter. Born and raised in southeast Dublin, he is based in Nashville, Tennessee. He has toured with Flogging Molly, Avatar, The White Buffalo, The Mahones and recorded with James Fearnley of The Pogues.

The Manhattan Club was a nightclub located at 1312 Broadway in East St. Louis, Illinois. The club has a prominent place in Greater St. Louis music history. It is best known for being the club where teenaged Tina Turner met her future husband, bandleader Ike Turner. The building was destroyed by fire in 2010.
