In November 2022, Netflix released the webseries Khakee: The Bihar Chapter inspired by this book. [7]

Plot

The story starts from the criminal birth of Samant Pratap (renamed), a sharpshooter of Ashok Mahto gang, earlier named as Vijay Samrat but later it was removed because Vijay Samrat is the name of a local Rashtriya Janata Dal politician.

The criminal Ashok Mahto gang, which was active in the Indian state Bihar, was led by Ashok Mahto and included Pintu Mahto. Ashok Mahto and his gang were responsible for the 2005 killing of Rajo Singh, a sitting Member of Parliament. Ashok Mahto was imprisoned but escaped from Nawada jail in 2002. Pintu Mahto killed three police officers during the prison breakout. The gang's leaders are said to belong to either the Kurmi or Koeri caste, and was supported by the backward castes in the Nawada and Sheikhpura regions. The Mahto gang was waging a war of retribution against the exploitative upper-caste Bhumihars. Mahto and his gang were responsible for the killings of a large number of Forward Caste people in late 1990s.

Bari Path is a road in Patna, the capital of Bihar. It is named after Professor Abdul Bari in 1948 after his death due to Murder in Khusrupur, Patna. Bari House was situated in this road. Mahatma Gandhi came to Bari House on 29 March 1947, one day after Bari death. It connects Gandhi Chowk to Gandhi Maidan, runs Parallel to Ashok Rajpath. It connects with Ashok Rajpath in many points, such as in Ramna Road, Khazanchi Road.

Laxmi Narayan Sudhanshu (1906–1974) was an Indian writer, litterateur, poet, independent activist and political leader. He won the 1952 Bihar Legislative Assembly election from an assembly seat in Purnia. He also held the post of Speaker of the Bihar Legislative Assembly from 1962 to 1967. Sudhanshu is known for actively participating in the Quit India Movement in 1942. He was imprisoned in Bhagalpur jail by the Britishers.
