Bill Brown (born May 20, 1957) is an American baseball coach. He served as the head baseball coach of the George Mason Patriots from 1982 to 2022. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6]
Raised in Vienna, Virginia, Brown helped lead his George C. Marshall High School team to the Virginia State Finals in his senior season of 1975. He then played a single season each at Georgia and Allegany Community College before arriving at George Mason. He played two seasons as a catcher with the Patriots, earning NAIA All-District honors in his junior season.
After his playing days ended, Brown worked in the Mason Athletic Department while he completed his degree, serving as an assistant baseball coach from 1980 to 1981 under new head coach Walt Masterson. Upon Masterson's retirement, Brown was elevated to head coach. Under Brown, the Patriots have seen 27 players drafted in the Major League Baseball Draft, four of whom have reached the Majors. Mason has reached seven NCAA Regionals and claimed three conference championships. Brown was named Colonial Athletic Association Coach of the Year a record six times before the Patriots moved to the Atlantic 10 Conference beginning with the 2014 season. William Stephen Belichick is an American sports analyst and football coach. Widely regarded as one of the greatest head coaches of all time, he holds numerous coaching records, including the record of most Super Bowl wins (six) as a head coach, all with the New England Patriots, along with two more during his time as the defensive coordinator of the New York Giants, for a record eight combined total Super Bowl victories as coach and coordinator. A renowned American football historian, Belichick is often referred to as a "student of the game" with a deep knowledge of the intricacies of each player position. During his tenure with the Patriots, Belichick was a central figure as the head coach and de facto general manager during the franchise's dynasty from 2001 to 2019.
Shawn Anthony Camp is an American baseball coach and former pitcher, who is the current head coach of the George Mason Patriots. He played college baseball for George Mason from 1995 to 1997. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 2004 to 2014 with his longest tenure as a player with the Toronto Blue Jays. He also played for the Kansas City Royals, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Chicago Cubs, and Philadelphia Phillies.
Ernie Nestor is an American college basketball coach, formally an assistant coach at the University of Missouri. Head coach Frank Haith named Nestor to this post in April, 2011. He was formerly the head coach of the Elon University and George Mason men's basketball teams. Nestor, a native of Philippi, West Virginia, was a long-time assistant at Wake Forest University, including an eight-year stint for head coach Dave Odom. He has also been on the coaching staffs of California, James Madison and South Carolina during his career.
The 2005–06 George Mason Patriots men's basketball team represented George Mason University in the 2005–2006 NCAA Basketball season. The team achieved several milestones, including a team-record 23 regular season wins, and earned an at-large bid to that year's NCAA tournament.
The William & Mary Tribe men's basketball team represents the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia in NCAA Division I competition. The school's team competes in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) and play their home games in Kaplan Arena. Former Cornell Head Coach Brian Earl was hired as the 32nd coach in school history following the dismissal of Coach Dane Fischer. The Coastal Athletic Association Men's Basketball Coach of the Year is a basketball award given to the most outstanding men's basketball head coach in the Coastal Athletic Association, as chosen by a panel of sports writers and broadcasters. The award was first given following the 1983–84 season, the first year of the conference's existence, to Joe Harrington of George Mason and Dick Tarrant of Richmond. Tarrant and Bruiser Flint of Drexel have won the most awards with four, while six other coaches have won the award twice.
The Rhode Island Rams baseball team is the varsity intercollegiate baseball team of the University of Rhode Island, located in Kingston, Rhode Island, United States. The program has been a member of the NCAA Division I Atlantic 10 Conference since the start of the 1981 season. Since the 1966 season, the program has played at Bill Beck Field, located on the university's campus. The program has appeared in two NCAA tournaments. The Charleston Cougars baseball team is a varsity intercollegiate athletic team of the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina, United States. The Bryant Bulldogs baseball team is the NCAA division 1 varsity intercollegiate baseball team of Bryant University, located in Smithfield, Rhode Island. The program participates a member of the America East Conference. The Bulldogs previously participated as members of the Northeast Conference. It plays at Conaty Park on the northern edge of Bryant's campus. Ryan Klosterman has been the program's head coach since the 2020 season.

He played college baseball for the George Mason Patriots from 1998 to 2001 under head coach Bill Brown. Stiffler had been a part of the Rams baseball program since 2007, where he spent the first 5 seasons as an assistant to Paul Keyes.
Jamie Pinzino is an American baseball coach and former third baseman, who is the current pitching coach of the East Tennessee State Buccaneer. He played college baseball at Tufts for coach John Casey from 1994 to 1997. Pinzino then served as the head baseball coach for the Assumption Greyhounds (2005), Bryant Bulldogs (2006–2010) and William & Mary (2013), in which the Tribe made the NCAA tournament.

Dan Heefner is an American college baseball coach who has been the head coach of Dallas Baptist since the start of the 2008 season. Under Heefner, the Patriots have reached ten NCAA tournaments, including a Super Regional in 2011. An Olivet Nazarene graduate, Heefner played two years of baseball for the Tigers after transferring from Northern Iowa.

The Revolutionary Rivalry is a rivalry between the George Mason Patriots and George Washington Revolutionaries, both of which play in the Atlantic 10 Conference and are located in the Washington metropolitan area. Both schools are named after founding fathers, George Mason and George Washington, who were both natives to Virginia and had their plantations, Gunston Hall and Mount Vernon, respectively, on the southside of modern Fairfax County, Virginia.

The regular season was followed by many conference tournaments and championship series, and the season concluded with the 2023 NCAA Division I baseball tournament and 2023 Men's College World Series. The Men's College World Series, consisting of the eight remaining teams in the NCAA tournament and held annually in Omaha, Nebraska, at Charles Schwab Field Omaha, ended on June 26, 2023, with LSU winning the title.
