The Buffalo Bills are a professional American football team based in the Buffalo metropolitan area. The Bills compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league's American Football Conference (AFC) East division. The team plays its home games at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, New York. Founded in 1960 as a charter member of the American Football League (AFL), they joined the NFL in 1970 following the AFL–NFL merger. The Bills' name is derived from an All-America Football Conference (AAFC) franchise from Buffalo that was in turn named after western frontiersman Buffalo Bill. Drawing much of its fanbase from Western New York, the Bills are the only NFL team that plays home games in that state. The franchise is owned by Terry and Kim Pegula, who purchased the Bills after the death of original owner Ralph Wilson in 2014.

LeSean Kamel McCoy, nicknamed "Shady", is a former American football running back. He played college football at Pittsburgh and was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft. McCoy attended Bishop McDevitt High School in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, from 2002 to 2006. In his senior year of high school, McCoy suffered a major ankle injury, which threatened his career. In his first year at Pittsburgh in 2007, McCoy rushed for over 1,300 yards and recorded 14 touchdowns. In 2008, McCoy was selected as a second-team All-American. His 21 rushing touchdowns were third in the nation, only one behind the two leaders.
Stephon Stiles Gilmore is an American football cornerback for the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at South Carolina and was selected 10th overall by the Buffalo Bills in the 2012 NFL Draft. Gilmore spent his first five seasons with the Bills and earned Pro Bowl honors in 2016 before joining the New England Patriots. During his four seasons with the Patriots, Gilmore was named Defensive Player of the Year in 2019 after leading the league in interceptions. He also extended his Pro Bowl selections to four, received two first-team All-Pro selections, and was a member of the team that won a Super Bowl title in Super Bowl LIII. Gilmore was traded to the Carolina Panthers in 2021, where he received a fifth Pro Bowl selection, and signed with the Colts the following year.
Samuel Benjamin Watkins IV is an American football wide receiver for the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Clemson and was drafted by the Buffalo Bills fourth overall in the 2014 NFL Draft. He has also played for the Los Angeles Rams, Kansas City Chiefs, and Baltimore Ravens. Watkins became a Super Bowl champion as a member of the Chiefs.

The Hail Murray was a play during an American football game between the Buffalo Bills and Arizona Cardinals on November 15, 2020. The game took place at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. With eleven seconds remaining in regulation play, Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray threw a 43-yard Hail Mary pass into the end zone that wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins caught over three Bills defenders for the game-winning touchdown. The score resulted in a 32–30 comeback victory for Arizona, who had trailed Buffalo 23–9 in the third quarter and had allowed the Bills to score a go-ahead touchdown just over 30 seconds prior. Multiple media outlets dubbed the play "Hail Murray," a play on "Hail Mary" and Kyler Murray's last name. The play, which was the first go-ahead Hail Mary in a regular season fourth quarter since the 2015 Miracle in Motown, won the NFL Play of the Year Award for the 2020 season.
The Bills–Titans rivalry is a National Football League rivalry between the Buffalo Bills and the Tennessee Titans. The series originated during the American Football League's inaugural season in 1960, as both the Titans, then known as the Houston Oilers, and Bills were charter teams in the league, playing as divisional opponents in the AFL's East division. Despite being moved to different divisions following the AFL–NFL merger, the Bills and Oilers/Titans have had several heated competitions since, including two of the most memorable moments in NFL playoff history, namely The Comeback and the Music City Miracle. Since 1999, several games have been decided by less than a touchdown.
